Obituary: Shirley Ann(McGruder)Poindexter a lifelong resident of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly on 4, 2012. She was born in Bloomington to William and Cleo Brown McGruder. Shirley worked at Cook Incorporated as a dietician for 3 years. She received two Associates degrees and Bachelors degree from Ivy Tech and was working toward her Masters degree from Indiana Weslyan. Shirley was a one of a kind woman. She had a laugh and smile that would light up the world. She loved football s and s with her brother Kevin McGruder and sister Mary Jane McGruder. She loved to travel and see new things and las t but not least, her grandson JKyh was her life. Shirley was the type of person that would do anything for anyone. She was the best mother a daughter could ask for. She was my best friend, she was my everything. When thinking of her, please do not shed a tear, or she would prefer a party, remember the good memories with my mom for she has returned to her Father, the Lord Jesus Christ. Her life will live on and be cherished through her mother and also her best friend Cleo McGruder, daughter Cheryl Poindexter, three brothers; Robert McGruder of Vancouver, Canada, Kevin McGruder of Bloomington, IN, Keith York of Bloomington, IN her sister Mary Jane McGruder of Bloomington, IN and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. Obituary: Chris William Poindexter, 59, of Newburgh, passed away , 5, 2015, at his home. He was born 1, 1956, in Daviess , IN to the late Ira F. and Lois L. (Resler) Poindexter. He was a 1974 graduate of North Daviess High School. He served 22 years in the US Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, and had worked as a mold setter for SRG. He was a member of VFW Post #1157 and American Legion Post #73 in Vincennes. He enjoyed woodworking and was an all-around handy man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and always helped anyone he could. Chris was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Lynn (Wilson) Poindexter; son, Troy Alan Poindexter; grandchildren, Kegley Ann Robben, Trey Glen Poindexter, and Talyn Robert Ericksen; great-granddaughter, Macy Rae Robben; two beloved shelties, Chloe and Bambi; and several cousins. Services will be 11:00 AM , 9, 2015, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Dusty Russell, with burial in Memorial Park , Vincennes. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Ward Neff, Dr. Christopher Braden, Dr. Noah Taylor, the staff of MSA Hospice, and a special thank you to Marty and Schmia, for all the loving care and support that was given. Memorial contributions may be made to MSA Hospice or to Chancellor of Oncology. |
