Obituary: Gerald Marquis Pritcher, Sr., 92 of Atlanta, GA, passed away on 27, 2016. He was born on a farm in Okatie, SC, on 31, 1923. He graduated from Bluffton, High School and attended Armstrong in Savannah, GA. His father knew the hardship of working a farm, and urged him to go to work on the railroad. He then began his near 40-year-career with Southern Railway. He went through Army basic training, but was more useful during the war as a telegraph operator and dispatcher directing troop trains. Gerald was on duty when the funeral train was dispatched to Warm Springs upon the death of President Roosevelt. Before retiring he was Superintendent of Transportation for the Eastern Division. Gerald was a longtime member of Druid Hills Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, on the finance committee, board of trustees, and then as deacon emeritus. He was a member of the Newton School Class. He took great pride in a strong work ethic and family values, as well as his Okatie roots, visiting frequently with family in the South Carolina Low Country. He was predeceased by his parents, Asbury and Ina Pritcher, and his brother, Wayne Babe Pritcher, and was followed in death four days after by Jeannine, his wife of 67 years. The family will receive friends night, 1, from 6 until 8 oclock in the evening at Pattersons Spring Hill , with memorial service to follow on 2nd at 1 oclock in the afternoon at Druid Hills Baptist Church, 1098 Ponce de Leon Ave, Atlanta, GA 30306. Family will greet family and friends in the parlor immediately following the service. |

Obituary: Mary Louise Pritchard, age 93, of Lawrenceville, GA, formerly of Park, GA, passed away Dec. 7, 2012. She was born in Stockbridge, GA, 18, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roy Pritchard and her son Bill Pritchard. She was a 50 year resident of Park, GA. Mrs. Pritchard worshipped and taught School at First Baptist Church of Park. She moved to Griffin, GA in 2000 where she worshipped at Second Baptist Church. In Griffin she became known as the "Muffin Lady" for her kind and generous gifts of homemade Bran Muffins which she provied for church members, shut-ins, friends and neighbors. Obituary: Margaret Landy Pritchard, 85 years young, of Atlanta, Georgia died 12th, 2015. She was born on 20th, 1929 in Cheesemont, Tipperary, Ireland to parents John and Alice Landy. Her siblings were Honor Landy, Mary Kinsella and Richard Landy. She was educated at The Good Shepherd Convent in Waterford, Ireland. graduating, Margaret worked as a nanny for the Comerford Family in Grangemockler to help pay for her passage to England where she studied at The Loughborough School of and became a RN. Soon after, Margaret married Paul Derek Pritchard in Leicester, England. Margaret was employed as a RN by hospitals in Ireland, England and US. She retired from nursing at North Georgia Medical of Gwinnett in 1994. Margaret lived in many places including Dublin, Ireland; Beverly, Bridlington, and Botley, England; Glen Cove, New York; as well as Gainesville, Sugar Hill and Atlanta, Georgia. Margaret frequented the theater, symphony, and ballet. She enjoyed traveling, sailing, gardening and needlepoint. In 2004, Margaret received Women of the Year from Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Buford, Georgia. More recently, Margaret was an active and contributing parishioner at the Cathedral of Christ the King. She was honorary ambassador to Angels on Earth in support of Cancer Wellness at Piedmont Hospital. Margaret is survived by her son, David Pritchard; and daughters, Jillian Pritchard Cooke and Michele Beardsley (Mimi); brother, Richard Landy; and her grandchildren , The Loves Of Her Life, Taylor Pritchard, Grace Pritchard, Caillin Cooke, Maggie Beardsley and Ryan Beardsley. She will join her husband Paul and son Beaufort in Heaven. A mass and reception celebrating the life of Margaret Pritchard will be held at The Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta on 20, 2015 at 10:30 in the morning. Interment will be at Memorial Park and in Gainesville at 2:30 in the afternoon. Margaret worked many years with St. Vincent de Paul, which whom the family would like her life honored through a donation in lieu of flowers. Margaret never met a stranger and she greeted everyday with a smile on her face and pure love in her heart. |
