Obituary: William Berry Primm, Son of Joseph Parks Primm and Velma Maxwell Primm, was born in Rome, Georgia on 22, 1921. He attendeded public schools in Rome and gradudated with honors in 1938, also participated in football, basketball and baseball. He continued his education at Wake Forest graduating in 1943 with high honors, earning a Phi Beta Kappa Key along with an Omicron Delta Kappa Key. He was very active in college activites being sports editor and then editor of the college newspaper, Vice President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, President of the Lettermans Club, President of the Senior Class, and earned three letters as the second baseman for the Demon Deacons baseball team. At graduation he was awarded the Hubert Royster Medal for Proficiency in Scholarship and Athletics. graduation he immediately entered the military service with the First Army in the European Theater for 21/2 years. Mr. Primm spent his entire business career of 46 years with the Federal Saving and Loan Association, which later became Federal Savings Band of Rome, He served as Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Vice President, and President and member of the Board of Directors, and witnessed the growth of the insititution over the years, reaching $192 million in assets when he retired in 1992. Mr. Primm was active in the Civic life of our community. He served 23 years as a member of the Rome City Board of Education, the last 13 year as chairman. He also served on President Nixon's education commission for Georgia during the time of the integration of the public school. Until his death he was the oldest member of the Rome Kiwanis Club, having served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors. In 1954 he received the Young Man of the Year Award from the Rome Jaycees. He was a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and Floyd , served as Vice-President and on numerous committees. He was Chairman of the Committee of the Industrial Development of Rome and Floyd , which purchased the property for the Floyd Industrial Park. Mr. Primm was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome, started attending that church when he was four years of age, and has served in many capacities. A School teacher for over 50 years, he also served as Superintendent of the School, a Deacon and elder and life elder. For 18 years he served as Clerk of the Sessions (ELDERS). He was CHairman of the Building Committee for Hardy Chapel, and Co- Chairman of the Committee to raise funds for the construction of the Christian Life . These funds were raised and collected by the time the building was completed, thus assuting a debt free building. Spending 26 years as a football referee in the Northwest Georgia football Officials Association, Mr. Primm not only officiated during the season, but also officiated play-off games throughout the state. Mr. Primm was blessed with three daughters who survive him, Mrs. Claire P. Clowdus, Mrs. Rebecca P. Faine of Rome And Mrs. Julie P. McCollister of Roswell, GA; Six grandchildren, Mr. Travis Williams, Mrs. Beth Nichols, Mr. Tom Faine, Ms. Rebecca Williams, Mr. Blake McCollister and Ms. Katy McCollister. In addition, two great- grandchildren, Ms.Briley Nichols and Ms. Brynn Nichols also survive. Mr. Primm was married to Charlotte Ruby Roberts on 11, 1947, and was blessed with a wonderful life with her until her death on 3, 2000. In 2006, Mr. Primm married Jacqueline Tuggle McBrayer. He was married to Jackie Primm until her death on 22, 2014. A funeral service will be held , 15, 2015 in the First Presbyterian Church of Rome at 2:00 PM with Dr. James VanDyke officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Kingdom Hall. A private interment will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens prior to services. |

Obituary: Jacqueline Jackie Tuggle McBrayer Primm, 88, of Rome, GA, passed away on , 22, 2014, in her home following an extended illness. Jackie was born in Carrollton, GA, on 31, 1925. She moved to Rome in 1933 and attended East Rome elementary, Neely and Girls High before going to the University of Georgia in 1943. She then married W. J. McBrayer, Jr., and much of her adult years were spent living in Winder, GA, raising two children, teaching school and returning to UGA where she received three degrees. While teaching school in Winder she was twice honored as Teacher of the Year in 1978 and again in 1984. In 1984, she placed second in the state by Governor Joe Frank Harris for her guidance and support to her students and fellow teachers. She was also acknowledged by the Northeast Cooperative Agency of GA and the Support Teachers Program of Performance for dedications to education. W. J. died, Jackie continued teaching in Winder until retirement. She later moved to Rome and married her high school sweetheart Billy Primm. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Winder and later joined First Presbyterian Church of Rome. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma International. Most important to Jackie was being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. She was active in her community and loved playing bridge with her friends. Survivors include her husband, Billy Primm, Rome; her son, W. J. Chuck McBrayer. III, Winder,; her daughter, Diane McBrayer Holland (Dennis), Marietta; three grandchildren, Jeni Somervold, Timothy and Katherine Holland; great grandchild, Luke Somervold; and brother, Damon Tuggle, Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by both parents, Marion Bryan Jack Tuggle and Carrie Lee Bonner Tuggle, Rome, and brothers, Howell Tuggle, Maurice Tuggle and Lee Tuggle. A graveside service will be held on , 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at East View with the Rev. Bill Pardue officiating. The family will receive friends on , 28, 2014, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Daniels . In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Transitions Hospice, 610 Shorter Ave., Suite 9, Rome, GA 30165 or to your favorite charity. |

Obituary: Estelle Daugherty Prigmore died on May 29, 2016 in hospice care at WellStar Community Hospice Tranquility in Marietta, GA. She was a long time resident of Chattanooga but moved to Powder Springs, GA after her husband, Fay, retired from Dixie Yarns. During WWII Estelle worked in the administration offices of Trans World Airlines in Washington, D.C. She was a den mother for both Brownie Scouts and Cub Scouts in the North River Community. She was active in the United Methodist Church in Chattanooga and taught School at Brooks Memorial UMC for many years. She was past president of the Womens Society of Christian service at Brooks. Later she served in the Childrens Department at First-Centenary UMC Estelle was the owner of E. Marsunita, a shop in Chattanooga which created custom clothing and bridal gowns. She served as a Red Cross volunteer for several years serving often in the emergency room. She was also a volunteer at the Siskin Foundation and the Meals on Wheels Program. An avid gardener, she had been a member of the Mimosa Garden Club of Powder Springs. Estelle was preceeded in death by her husband, L. T. (Fay) Prigmore, of 62 years. Survivors include 3 children and their spouses: L.T. (Buzz) and Susan Prigmore, David W. and Bonita Prigmore, and Marsha P. and David Conrad. Six grandchildren: Shaun and Caroline (spouse) Prigmore, Hadley and Jason (spouse) Holcomb, Preston Prigmore, Tyler Conrad, Tanner Conrad and Fallon Prigmore. Two great grandchildren: Molly Prigmore and Jackson Prigmore. Private graveside service for family will be held at Chattanooga , North Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First-Centenary UMC or the Alzheimers Association (alz.org). |
