Obituary: Tressia Bennett Poppell, age 63, of Cox, Georgia, died , 8, 2014 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick. Tressia was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Darien Church of God since 1992. She was employed at Southeastern Bank in Darien for 25 years. Tressia enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Patrick Poppell, and her parents, Junior and Margie Bennett. She is survived by a daughter, Callie Lamb (Kelly) and their children, Katelyn and Patrick, all of Cox; a brother, Ricky Bennett (Diane) of Darien; three sisters, Linda Kirkland (Ronnie) of Cox, Gail Rooks of Darien and Pamela Anderson, also of Darien, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Edo Miller and Sons . The funeral service will be , 11, 2014 at 10:00 am at Darien Church of God with Reverend Tommy Whaley officiating. Pallbearers will be Ricky Bennett, Ronnie Kirkland, Jr., Bobby Anderson, Chris Singleton, Chris Speed and Scott Speed. Burial will follow in Gardner Poppell in Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff of Heartland Hospice, Helen Brewer, Terry Lynn Rhodes, Intrepid , Charles Chunk Jones, Rev. Bill Brown, Sherriff Steve Jessup, Donnie Howard, Kenny Williams, Larry Blackston, Corabelle Owens, Dr. James Snow and Steve Crowder will be honorary pallbearers. Born 6, 1923 in Tattnall Georgia to the late Robert C. and Lettie Folsom Deloach, Mrs. Poppell was a graduate of Georgia Southern University she was a former educator in the McIntosh School System, and was the wife of Thomas Hardwick Poppell who was the Sherriff of McIntosh , 1948 - 1980. At the time of Mr. Poppells death she served as interim Sherriff of McIntosh . Mrs. Poppell was a member of the Legion Auxillary, First Baptist Church of Darien, and The Missionary Society of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, teaching others, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Reese Deloach and I.J. Deloach, and a sister, Marie D. Skipper. Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Poppell Jr. and wife Lori of Darien, two grandsons, Thomas Brian Poppell and wife Ashley, and Jason Hardwick Poppell and fiance Alisha, a great granddaughter, Taylor Brianna Poppell all of Darien, a brother in law, Adam S.
