Obituary: Virginia Stripling Pearson, 89, of Atlanta, passed away , 9, 2010 at Delmar Gardens, Smyrna, GA. Born 13, 1921 in Waycross, GA, the daughter of Robert Jackson Stripling, Sr. and Louise Howell Stripling, she was married to William Maddox Pearson, of Whitesville, GA, who predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her brother, Robert Jackson Stripling, Jr. (Stella) of Greenville, SC; her sons, Robert Phillip Pearson (Dona Sue) of Scottsdale, AZ, and William Jackson Pearson (Genevieve) of Atlanta; her nieces, Dawne Stripling Gannon, Columbia, SC, Harriett Stripling Hunter, Tallahassee, FL, and Virginia Stripling Smith, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and by her grandchildren, Amanda Clark Pearson of Istanbul, Turkey, Ens. Merritt Llewellyn Pearson, Saratoga Springs, NY, and Mary Genevieve Pearson, Atlanta. Mrs. Pearson and her husband, Bill, lived most of their lives together in Atlanta and Signal Mountain, TN. were married during World War II in Waycross, GA and served on a succession of U.S. Army bases in the western United States until the close of hostilities. lived two periods in Atlanta and two in the Chattanooga, TN area, for fourteen years residing on Signal Mountain, TN. During their initial Atlanta residence, they were members of Haygood United Methodist Church. returning from Signal Mountain, they lived in Sandy Springs and became active at St. John United Methodist Church in Sandy Springs, particularly enjoying the fellowship of their School class and other friends from the church. Mrs. Pearson was an avid Bridge player throughout her life and cherished the many friendships that she made in those circles. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Southeastern Guide Dogs, 4210 77th Street East, Palmetto, FL 34221, www.guidedogs.org, and its programs Paws for Patriots and Paws for Independence or to St. John United Methodist Church, 550 Mt. Obituary: Mr. Robert Harrell Pearson, 81, died peacefully ( 2, 2015) at his residence in Waycross. He was born in Jacksonville, FL but had resided in Daytona Beach, FL most of his life before moving to Waycross, GA several years ago. He attended the University of Florida before joining the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator and Shendler Elevator. He was also a member of Kettle Creek Church of Waycross. He was a son of the late Lawrence Pearson and Roby Shuman Pearson. He is survived by his son, David Alan Pearson (wife Lucy) of South Daytona Beach, FL; and a granddaughter, Bethany Pearson of Holly Hill, FL. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. ( 5, 2015) at Kettle Creek Church. The family will be receiving friends afternoon at the church from 1 until 2 oclock. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. morning ( 7, 2015) at Greenwood in Daytona Beach, FL. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com. |
