Obituary: W. Harold Pate, Sr.,82, a resident of Brunswick, died 11/4/10 in the Azaria Personal in Lawrenceville, GA. Mr. Pate was a native of Cordele, GA and had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 66 years. He attended Crisp High School in Cordele and the LSU School of Banking. He was retired from the SunTrust Bank (formerly First National Bank of Brunswick). He was a member of the Kiwanis International and the First Baptist Church of Brunswick. He was a member of the Glynn Board of Commissioner for 14 years and had served as Chairman and was a dedicated community volunteer. He was also a Georgia National Guardsman. He was an avid sports fan, a talented artist and singer and he loved carpentry. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Laverne F. Pate of Brunswick, a daughter, Andrea Pate Willis of Tifton, GA, a son, Hal Pate of Lawrenceville, GA, a brother, Geoffrey Pate of Arabi, GA, four grandchildren, Hallie Alyse Willis of Atlanta, GA, Paten Lane Willis of Tifton, GA, Elyse Marie Pate and Andrew William Pate both of Lawrenceville, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10 AM 11/6/10 in the First Baptist Church of Brunswick with Rev. James E. Crandall and Rev. Tommy McMillan officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park . Active pallbearers will be: Vernon Willis, Paten Willis, Andrew Pate, David Faulk, William Faulk, Blair Faulk, Hugh Leggett and Neil Strickland. The family will receive friends in the from 6 to 8 PM and the family request in lieu of flowers, contributions to the Compassionate Hospice, 4340 Georgetown Square, Suite 608, Atlanta, GA, 30338 or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Obituary: Wesly H. Pate, 84, of Danielsville, GA passed away , 8, 2015. A native of Elkhart, KS, Mr. Pate was the son of the late Herbert F. Pate and Virgie Jane Lewis Pate and was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie L. Pettis Pate and son Michael H. Pate. He served as a Flight Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a retired Captain with Eastern. Mr. Pate was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include son, Wesly Alan Pate and wife, Denise of Danielsville; daughter, Carole Canup and husband, Steve of Danielsville; sisters, Elder of Las Vegas, NV, Martha Richards of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law, Barbara Pate of Elkhart, KS brother-in-law, Jim Sagebiel of Elkhart, KS; grandchildren, Kelly Pate, Wesly Pate wife Stephanie, great-grandson Winston, and Leanna Canup. A memorial service will be held 1PM , 14th in the chapel at Bernstein . The family will receive friends from 11AM-1PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Obituary: Shan Thrift Pate Shan Thrift Pate made it safely home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov 13th, 2015. She is preceded in heaven by Glenn Vernon Thrift, father, and Shirley Ann Thrift, mother. Her loving husband Kirby Eugene Pate Sr., son Kirby Eugene Pate Jr, daughter Callie Ann Pate, brother Gary Vernon Thrift and stepmother Lillian Moore Thrift survive her. Shan was born and raised in Westminster, SC where she attended Westminster High School. She proudly graduated Clemson University in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science in . Shan and her Husband Kirby were married on 8, 1987. Shortly after the Pate’s moved to Atlanta, GA where Shan worked as a nurse in cardiology. the birth of her two children Shan devoted her time and energy to raising and caring for her family. She was ever-present at all activities and always supporting behind the scenes. Shan was a founding member of Johns Creek Baptist church where she passionately served as a school teacher and Deacon. Shan enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, on the water, on the farm, cooking for others, traveling and watching her Tigers play. Shan’s proudest accomplishments included her children, dotting the “I” with the Clemson band at homecoming, raising Ovarian Cancer awareness through ministries and fundraising for research. Shan’s life included but was never defined by, a long and hard fought battle with Ovarian Cancer. Over an 11-year journey she faced multiple re-occurrences with profound perseverance, but with strength and courage was always a rock her family relied on. Her insurmountable strength came from a deep well of faith and trust in her Lord. She exhibited grace and peace beyond measure as she followed Christ daily. Her enduring faith was a testimony and inspiration to all who had the opportunity to be near to her. She will be missed daily and remembered always TO KNOW HER IS TO BE INSPIRED BY HER See you soon good and faithful servant A celebration of life will be held , 18 at 3 o’clock at Johns Creek Baptist Church with a reception following the service at the church.
