Obituary: Harry C. Preston, SFC, U.S. Army (ret), 84, of Beverly Hills, passed away on , 1, 2015 at Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he was born Sept. 9, 1930 to William and Helen (Milliken) Preston, one of six children. Harry served his country for 26 years as a U.S. Air Force veteran for 13 years, then was a civil service employee as an electronics technician for another 13 years, while simultaneously serving in the New York National Guard. Mr. Preston moved to Citrus in 1987 from Rome, New York and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Annie Preston, on Jan. 25, 2012 and siblings Helen Newkirk (husband A.J.), Kathleen Horsley (husband Carlos) and Judy Blackston (husband Chuck). He is survived by his six children: David Preston, Lothian, MD; Tim Preston (wife Shelia), Saucier, MS; Donna Patrick (husband Keith), Lockport, NY; Karen Nebiker (husband William), Fredericksburg, VA; Maggie Campbell (husband Thomas), Blairsville, GA and Debra Baxter (husband Doug), Mobile, AL; siblings Bill Preston, Dawson, AL and Ruth McKelvey (husband Bud), Trussville, AL; sixteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Friends will be received on Wed., 4, 2015 from 1:30 until 2:00 P.M at Wilder , Homosassa, FL, where a chapel service will take place at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa with the American Legion Post #155 rendering military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to your choice of Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, American Cancer Society, or the American Legion. www.wilderfuneral.com |
