Obituary: POWERS, William R., Sr., 88, passed away on 22, 2014. Mr. Powers was a retired Professional Engineer. He was born in Springfield, MA on 19, 1926 to Edward A. and Luva M. Powers. He graduated from Technical High School in Springfield and went into the army shortly after graduation, where he served in the Combat Engineers and the Paratroopers during WWII. He attended the University of Maine and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He held positions in production management and construction management for several companies over the next 47 years. He qualified as a Professional Engineer in 1968. He leaves behind his loving wife, Karen M. Powers; four children Frances Cartier of Orrington, Maine, Michael Powers of Boothbay, Maine, William Powers Jr., of Ovid, New York and Margaret Powers of Presque Isle, Maine; stepdaughter Linda Richards; stepson Daniel Miers as well as eight grandchildren, one great grandson and four step granddaughters. A visitation will take place on , 5, 2014 from 12:30 to 2PM at Gonzalez with funeral services beginning at 2PM. |

Obituary: WILLIAM BILL POWERS, 59, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died 17, 2010 at his home. Born in Rahway, NJ, he was a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1998, moving from Fort Myers, FL, where he lived since 1981. During the Viet Nam War, Bill served in the United States Air force as Buck Sgt. Mr. Powers worked as a General Contractor. He previously worked for OAK Construction in Ft. Myers, FL; DASCO Co, a construction Co. in West Palm Beach, FL and owned and operated Powers Inspection in Port St. Lucie. Bill was a member of Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club, Treasure Coast Business on the Green, and was an affiliate of the Realtor Assoc of Port St. Lucie, FL. He also served on the United Way Committee in Ft. Myers, FL. In 1996, he carried the Olympic Torch for the Atlanta Olympics in Sarasota, FL. He also spent 15 years as a Pack Leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Ft. Myers, FL. Survivors include his wife, Judy Powers of Port St. Lucie, FL; two sons, Tech. Sgt. Obituary: WALTER LEE POWERS, JR., 82, passed away on , 25, 2014, at Tallahassee Memory after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease. He was born in Ft. Myers, Florida, and graduated from Ft. Myers High School. He was employed by Florida Power & Light for 39 years as a Customer Services Supervisor at various locations in Southwest Florida. He was one of the five original charter members who founded the Sertoma Club of Venice, Florida. In 1989, he retired and moved to Crawfordville from Venice, Florida. He was an avid Florida Gator fan. He loved to hunt and fish and really loved the land he lived on near Wakulla Station. He is survived by his wife of 36- ½ years, Joicelyn H. Powers; a sister, Betty Jo Nicholas; two daughters, Catherine Haugen and Rhonda Venuto (John); a stepson, Robert S. Harris; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. In accordance with Walts wishes, the family will not hold a formal funeral or memorial service. The family wishes to express many thanks and much appreciation for all who cared for him, especially the staff at Tallahassee Memorial , Dr. Jean Murphy, and all staff at Covenant Hospice and the Lake Ellen Baptist Church Respite program. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant Hospice at 1921 Capital Circle, N.E., Tallahassee, or to the Lake Ellen Baptist Church Respite Program at 4495 Crawfordville Highway, Crawfordville. Culleys Meadowwood assisted the family with their arrangements. |

Obituary: W.H. Wimpy Powers, born 15, 1923, in Osborne, Kansas, died , 24, 2014, at his Bradenton home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. W.H. was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Powers, and grandson, Billy Wynn. W.H. proudly served his country as an artillery mechanic in the U.S. Army in WWII and he was active in the Guadalcanal Campaign. W.H. started and sold several businesses in Kansas and in Bradenton. He was instrumental in developing and implementing waste disposal systems in both states. W.H. also served as Chief of Operations of Sarasotas Public Works Department from 1956 to 1962. retiring, W.H. enjoyed spending time inventing and has three current patents on file in the U.S. He is past president of the International Wood Collecting Society and enjoyed creating beautiful objects from wood. In addition to creating beautiful pieces with a technique known as segmented marquetry, W.H. developed a special technique in which he skillfully cut and pieced together various types of wood to create some of the most interesting and unusual pieces of art. W.H. is survived by Rose Marie Mcleod, his best friend and wife by spiritual union; his daughter, Barbara Aymes of Florida; son, Robert Powers (Patti) of Bradenton, Florida; daughter, Wanda Forbes (Dan) of Bradenton Florida, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and friends, Doris Bunnell, Roger Roberge and Roger Conley. The family will receive friends at Manasota , 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, Florida, on 1, 2014 at 12:00 noon, with a funeral service following at 1:00pm.
