Obituary: Beverly Holland Polant At her home on , 24, 2014 at the age of 71. Loving wife of Rear Admiral Ronald Polant, US Coast Guard, Retired, beloved stepmother of Laura Polant, David Polant and Mary Polant Hannam and husband Brian, and wonderful grandmother to Travis and Phillip Hannam, Kathryn and Bailey Long, and Lucas and Alexander Polant. She was a lifelong resident of Montgomery ; having been raised in Chevy Chase and also living in North Bethesda and Derwood. A graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in fabric and textiles she rose in accomplishment and responsibility and retired as the executive assistant to the president of the Howard P. Foley Electrical Construction . In that capacity she created the design and directed the decoration of the company home offices. Actively interested in politics she was a past-president of the Chevy Chase Womens Republican Club and creator of its Political Lunch Bunch monthly luncheon. She was noted for her keen wit, wise counsel and loyal support of her friends; many of whom considered her their best friend. Her avocation was home decoration specializing in Eighteenth Century style with oriental accents. Each of her homes was a model of that style. She was called upon by friends and relatives alike to help in their decorating efforts. In keeping with her style she was noted for her elegant black-tie Christmas dinner parties, complete with harpists, liveried footmen and dressing on occasion in her own creation of Eighteenth Century gowns. She was an avid reader and was never far from a library. Then with the arrival of ebooks she would always have backup volumes available. Her viewing will be at Joseph Gawlers Sons , 5130 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC on and , 29/30, 2PM-4PM, and 6PM-8PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Montgomery Hospice (www.montgomeryhospice.org) or Childrens National Medical (www.childrensnational.org) . She will be buried at Arlington National at a later date. |

Obituary: Charles A Polansky Jr. 98 , passed away on 13 2014 at his home. Charles was born in Chicago IL. He joined the Army Air Corps was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and married the love of his life, Frances. During WWII he supported the development of the first B-29 bomb wing to go to the Pacific theater. He also served with the 499th Bomb Group and flew combat missions from the island of Saipan. He served in the Air Force for 23 year rising to the rank of Colonel. His final duty station was MacDill AFB in Tampa. He earned a BA degree from the University of Tampa. Tampa became his permanent home. Charles worked for Civil Service in Tampa and Orlando. He was very active in the Church of the Incarnation. Charles enjoyed traveling, gardening and golfing during his retirement years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his wife. Charles and Frances were married for 67 years. Dad will be missed by his daughter, Patricia Perino and her husband Dr. Anthony Perino and his son, Charles Polansky III and his wife Karen Polansky. He is also missed by his four grandchildren and their spouses, Gina Perino (David), Greg Perino (Tina), Lauren Shelton and Charles Polansky IV (Heather) as well as his six great grandchildren, Christopher, Savannah, Kyle, Sophia, Gabriella, and Owen. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Church of the Incarnation, Tampa Fl on , 18 at 9:30 AM. He will be buried at the Florida National in Bushnell with military honors at 1:30. |

Obituary: Robert (Bob) James Poland II, 58, beloved husband of Bill Elliott, died peacefully on 16, 2017, at home in Wilton Manors, Florida. He was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Robert J. Poland Sr. and Jayne Blair Poland, and resided in Boston until he was 8 years old when the family moved to Silver Creek, NY. He graduated from Silver Creek Central School and attended the University of Buffalo. He was much loved by his 3 sisters, Dianne Gullotta of Estero FL, Barbara Berry of North Yarmouth ME, and Robin Gelbwachs of Milford MA. fondly remember his impish nature and his free spirit. Upon returning to Boston, he was employed by Mass General Hospital and Faulkner Hospital for several years. His passion for travel led him to Fort Lauderdale and a career in the travel industry. He held several positions at Certified Vacations and became National Account Director. He was an officer of the New England chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and a board member of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA). Eventually he started a travel consultancy, Don Go There Travel Advisors, and was one of the pioneers in home-based travel agencies. In addition to his husband and sisters, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Susan Crowder of Hartsville SC, his brothers-in-law, Joe, David, and Archie, and two generations of adoring nieces and nephews who loved their Unc. are being handled by Kraeer-Fairchild of Fort Lauderdale and a celebration of his life will be held at sea at a future date. |
