Obituary: Deborah Jean Poe of Waynesville, North Carolina and Tallahassee, Florida died 27, 2017 in the arms of her mother Dr. Barbara Frye MacDonald. Debbie was born in Stamford, Connecticut and had the good fortune to live in a variety of eclectic destinations such as Villars, Switzerland; Kent, Connecticut; Longboat Key, Florida and Tallahassee, Florida. Debbie attended Florida State University and subsequently embarked on a career with the Florida Public Service Commission, State Attorneys Office and Public Defender. retiring from her career, Debbie pursued her dream of moving to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina to build her dream home near the town of Waynesville. Debbies passion in her life were her animals and she was an accomplished shower of Rottweilers throughout dog shows in the South. retiring to North Carolina, Debbie displayed her passion for animals by devoting her time and energy to working for animal rescue shelters. Her love for animals is best exemplified by her trek to Hattiesburg, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina where she and a team of rescuers saved many animals, one of whom Debbie adopted as her own and appropriately named her Hattie. When not caring for animals, Debbie was gifted in the art of stained glassmaking and was an accomplished gardener in her beloved greenhouse. Debbies beautiful smile and loving nature endeared her to the many friends she made during her life and she will be dearly missed by her friends in North Carolina and Tallahassee. Her beautiful spirit and loving heart will never be forgotten and the memory of her spirit will always serve to uplift her loving and grateful family. Debbie was a shining example of what it means to be a daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her mother Dr. Barbara Frye MacDonald; her sister Leslie Frye Allen and husband Tom Allen; her brothers Christopher Holley Poe; James Robert Poe and wife Stacy; Joshua Lane Poe and wife Marni; as well as five special nieces: Merina Allen, Grayal Allen, Reese Poe, Lane Poe, Kelsie Poe and cousin Holley Poe. Debbies family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for their support, especially Dr. Michael Forsthoefel and Dr. Tim Broeseker for their loving care. A celebration of her life will be held on , 4, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2317 Bannerman Road with a reception to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends make a donation to Sarges Animal Rescue Foundation (sargeanimals.org). |

Obituary: Charles W. Poe, 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2014. He was born in Tampa, Florida on 23, 1928. Predeceased by his wife, Haven W. Poe, parents, Fred and Zula Poe, and brother, William F. Poe Sr. He attended Hillsborough High School, where he was a member of ROTC, Key Club, Youth for Christ, the House of Representatives, and a member of the rifle team. Charlie was awarded a scholarship to and attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1949. Following graduation from college, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He then went to work for Tampa Sand and Materials, which later became Florida Mining and Materials. In 1974, Charlie purchased City Ready Mix. He grew this business into a regional company with multiple locations. Charlie was a member of the Builders Association of Tampa and Chairman of the Florida Concrete Products Association. Charlie was an active member of the local community. He served as an Elder at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time playing golf in the mountains at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club in Highlands, North Carolina. He also enjoyed fishing at the Green Swamp Lodge. His greatest love was his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn Reynolds and Jennifer Wolf (Boyd), grandchildren, Ryan Reynolds (Nicole), Charlsey Reynolds, Lauralee Reynolds, Brendle Wolf and Jay Wolf, sister, Doris Anderson, sister-in-law Betty Poe, first cousins, Douglas Poe Cone, Duane Cone, as well as his many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Charlie’s caregivers: Brenda Robinson, Gladis Johnson, Jim Joseph and Claudine Drummond. May God bless them for their love and service. Charlie will be remembered as a true gentleman, devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a gracious friend to many. A memorial service will be held at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, 1309 W. Swann Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606, on , May 7 at 3:00 PM and there will be a reception in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
