Obituary: Margaret Pitman, affectionately known as “Peggy,” 98, of Longwood, FL, passed away on 6, 2016. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. Peggy was born on 26, 1918 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Thomas and Mary Morrison. When Peggy was about 8 years old, her family moved to Keyport, NJ. She lived in New Jersey, moving to upstate New York in 1945 after her wedding, and finally moving to Florida in 1956 where she remained until her passing. Peggy’s proudest moments in her lifetime included the birth and raising of her own children and later her grandchildren, the “apples of her eye.” She was a devoted wife to her husband of 43 years, Berl Pitman, who passed before her in 1989. Berl built their home in Longwood, FL, as well as their vacation home in North Carolina where their family shared many wonderful memories. Peggy was a strict but always loving mother to her children, Linda and Tom. She had a talent for crocheting, sewing, knitting, and needle point and loved her kitties. Peggy also had pride in her Scottish heritage, and had a gift for cooking traditional Scottish foods. She was also described as the best mother-in-law in the world. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Peggy was preceded in passing by her husband, Berl Pitman, and her twin sister, Isabel Morrison. She is survived by her children, Linda Schuchman and her husband Larry, and Thomas Pitman and his wife Cynthia; her grandchildren, Rebecca Nagle and her husband Kevin, and Eric Pitman; and her best friend, Cynthia’s mother, Christine Bacchus. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on , 17 at 10:00am at Baldwin Fairchild East Altamonte, 994 E Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Peggy will be laid to rest beside her husband at Longwood Memorial Gardens. are under the care of Baldwin Fairchild, an honored Dignity Memorial provider. |
