Obituary: Mr. Lawrence Pilaud was born on 1, 1921 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on , 11, 2014. Lawrence was born and raised in Covington, Louisiana. He was one of six children. He married his loving wife of 53 years, Dollive Breeland, in 1951, which preceded him in death in 2005. Lawrence enlisted in the Navy in 1941. His 21 year military career took him to various duty stations throughout the United States of America and the Mediterranean Sea serving on USS Midway, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and several other Navy ships. Lawrence retired from the Navy in 1962. He then had another 20 year career with the United States Postal Service. He could tell you where any street in Pensacola was located! Lawrence was a member of Olive Baptist Church for the past 34 years. For several years he was active in the Lighthouse Ministry and the senior mens school class. Lawrence loved planting his vegetable garden every year. He also enjoyed going to garage sales and visiting with the sick and shut ins from church. He had a very innovative drive to find solutions to everyday problems-and for every scratched, worn or rusted surface he always had a can of silver Krylon spray paint! He is survived by his daughter, Debra McCoy and her husband Mike; stepdaughter Carol Hubanks and her husband, Jim; five grand children: Jana Baldwin, Doug McCoy, Tiffany & Summer Hubanks, and Allison Scholten; and seven great grand children. Lawrence also has one surviving sister, Cora Sticker. Services will be held , 16, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, located at 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Florida 32534 with Rev. Jerry Passmore officiating. Internment will be held at Barrancas National . Family will receive friends , 15, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Covenant Hospice, Milton Office, 6479 Caroline Street, Suite B, Milton, Florida 32570. |

Obituary: Fort Myers - Prospero Pilar, a resident of the Fort Myers area, passed away the 28th of at his residence. Born on 10, 1934 in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Prospero received his degree in Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila in 1959. He did his internships at Clark Air Force Base Hospital in the Philippines and Saint Michael Hospital in Wisconsin. From there Prospero did his residencies at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago in General Surgery and for 2 years at Christ Hospital in New Jersey in Pathology. He then worked at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL for 20 years before retiring to Fort Myers. Prospero was active in his field as he was part of many Medical Committees and Societies not only for Pathology but also include Ambulatory Services, Surgical and Cancer and Cytology to name a few. Prospero was also an Instructor and an Assistant Professor for Pathology at several Medical s and Universities in the Chicago area. He also lectured and was a guest speaker at many Medical Conventions he attended. Prospero was Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. In 1967 Prospero was given an award by the Hektoen Committee of the Chicago Pathology Society for his research in Breast Tumors. He published an article A Correlation of Breast Imprints and Tissue Sections in Acta Cytologica 1968. Prospero was larger than life, a proud & vivacious man. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Loved his cars and playing various sports each week. He was a social man who loved people. He lit up the room and always wanted to be the center of attention. His funny jokes would make people laugh & smile. He was devoted to his family whom he loved dearly. Prospero, beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Grandfather, Brother-in-law, Uncle, Godfather, Cousin & Friend. He is survived by Trudy, his wife of 56 years, daughter Judy Goldstein, son Raymund Pilar, 4 grandchildren, Austin, Halle, Noah and Ava, his only brother Salvador Pilar and his dear sister-in-law Andrea Paz. under the direction of HODGES-KISER FUNERAL HOME, Fort Myers, FL. |
