Obituary: PI, Guillermo José (Willy), 68, went to be with his Lord on 22, 2014, at Shands Hospital in Gator Country after a short but courageous fight with cancer,surrounded by his loving family: his devoted wife Mari-Tere and his beloved children Ashley Kristen Pi (Darrell Kropog) and Guillermo Elías Pi. He was preceded in death by his parents José Pi Muñoz and María Antonia Pi. Survived by his sisters, Graciela Barreiro and María (Gerardo) Guzman; mother-in-law, Otmara Quintero; brother-in-law, Agustín (Linda) Quintero; stepdaughters, Teresita (Jeff) Golomb and Michelle (Paul) McFarland; grandchildren, David, Alexandra, Cameron, Sofie, and Jacob; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born in Havana, Cuba, he fled Castro's communist regime with his widowed mother and two sisters in 1961 and established residence in Tampa. He started his career in the food industry at the early age of 16 to support his family. With his strong and admirable ethic, Willy was no stranger to hard work; he ascended in positions at Kash N’ Karry, from bagging groceries at the start to eventually holding a role in management, and later continued his career in sales with Best Brands Corporation for over 30 years. He was a man steadfastly committed to his faith and family. A loving and dedicated family man, he was a caring and attentive son to his widowed mother; a remarkably responsible brother who, at a tender age, assumed the role of a father to his sisters; a devoted and supportive husband to his wife; and, most of all but not surprisingly, an amazing father who lovingly and tirelessly guided his children to become moral and upstanding individuals. Whether coaching countless baseball teams, never missing a ballet recital, or beaming with pride at academic events, it was always beautifully clear that Willy’s children were his greatest and dearest accomplishment. A man of great faith, he was very involved with Christ the King Catholic Church as an usher and Eucharistic minister. Willy loved life: Fighting Irish, Florida Gators, festive gatherings, sharing jokes with friends and family, his wife’s cooking, and good Cuban cigars. A compassionate and deeply Christian man, Willy’s wit, humor, and love will be greatly missed by his wife, children, entire family, and all who had the fortune of having him touch their lives. The family will receive friends on , 28th, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Blount & Curry , 605 So. MacDill Avenue, Tampa, FL 33609, followed by funeral mass at 1:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, FL, 33609. Interment after the mass will be at Garden of Memories , 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. Obituary: My mother, Somsong Pholtavee, was born in Nonthaburi, Thailand on 19, 1945. She just recently celebrated her seventy-first birthday. During the last several years she was battling Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. Though she was no stranger to ailments, this lung cancer was by far the toughest battle she had to fight.My mother was always proud that she overcame educational barriers. She would always tell my sister and I the story of how difficult it was to get into her beloved alma mater, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand to study nursing. Mom would recall how nervous she was about passing the entrance exam. She was relieved and happy upon noticing her name on the acceptance board. Being the eldest of six siblings, she knew she had to get an education to help support her family. graduation, while working at the nurses station she ran into the love of her life, Bamroong Pholtavee. Shortly thereafter she married my father, Bamroong Pholtavee, and moved to New York in 1972 where my sister and I would be eventually be born. Some of my fondest memories of my mother was watching and helping her make Thai culinary dishes. She had this passion to recreate the food that she left behind in Thailand and she always managed to generate amazing meals night after night. Countless hours in the kitchen whilst watching, helping, and tasting, is where I developed my passion for food. I would be remiss not to mention just how a devout Buddhist my mother was. She would always take the opportunity to tie in a life lesson with a Buddhist teaching. Whenever there was a major Buddhist holiday I remember that we would be up at four oclock in the morning to make her famous green chicken curry and ruam mit dessert as the Pholtavee familys offering to the monks. Rest in peace, mom. You were an amazing and wonderful mother. Kwuan and I became a better person because of you and your love. Dad, Kwuan and I will miss you dearly. All conditioned things are impermanent - when one sees this with wisdom, one turns away from suffering. -The Buddha My mothers good deeds in life were limitless. She was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. Selflessness, dedicated work ethic, forgiveness, and patience were values that were instilled in me. She has taught me that we are always a work in progress, constantly evolving and utilizing these teachings to achieve balance in life. My mother has taught me that there is always a solution to every problem. Her physical form may be gone however the results of her good deeds remain in all of us and around us. It gives me peace to know that she is no longer suffering and knowing that she still lives on through us, giving me strength and wisdom daily. |

He owned Precision Lifts in Deerfield Beach, Fl. Normand was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors.
