Obituary: Margaret Roberta Phillips, of Winter Springs, passed away suddenly on 22, 2017 in Olathe, Kansas. She was visiting her son in Kansas to escape the wrath of Hurricane Irma. Margaret was born on May 18, 1923 in Burnside, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Brown) Flickinger. She grew up on a farm in Webster Iowa with four brothers during the Great Depression. When World War II came along, Margaret joined the US Navy and became a Pharmacist Mate (Hospital Corpsman) caring for wounded servicemen in Naval Hospitals at Chelsea, Massachusetts and Mare Island, California. While at Mare Island, she met and married John Phillips and they began a 67 year journey that included John’s 39 year Navy career with its many duty stations and separations, four children, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a legion of friends. retiring from the Navy, John and Margaret settled in Orlando where they were later joined by two of their children and their families. Being a part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives was so important to her and that love was returned by all. John and Margaret were also active members of the Aloma United Methodist Church and the Bahia Shrine. The Shrine’s Roaring 20’s Club was a center of their social life and a vehicle for service to the community. Margaret loved to play cards and was still beating her son and granddaughters at Cribbage during her last visit to Kansas. She was a strong and great lady who will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Janie Grandinett, and three brothers. She is survived by her sons Ed (Ann) of Olathe, Kansas, Buz (Patti) of Winter Springs, daughter Betty (Steve) of Winter Springs, brother Elmer Flickinger (Terry) of Des Moines, Iowa,10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled , 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Baldwin-Fairchild , Goldenrod Chapel: 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32792. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on , 1 at the Aloma United Methodist Church, 3045 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32792. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL 32789. Obituary: Margaret Mugs Ann Phillips, 78, of Orlando, FL passed away at her home on 15, 2013. She was born in Alliance, Nebraska on 15th, 1935 to the late Leonard and Emma Elizabeth Cook. Margaret was married to her husband Francis Hal Phillips for 50 years prior to his passing in 1996. She worked as an Airline Caterer, preparing meals for airlines, for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and reading romance novels, and was a member of the VFW. Margaret will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Margaret is preceded in her passing by her husband Hal Phillips, her sisters Joyce Bergfield; Arlene Skanlin; Sue Smith; and Helen Ridgeway. She is survived by her sisters Wanda Pennington (Glen) of Orlando, FL; Nancy Davidson (James) of Omaha, Nebraska; and Betty Koppit of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was extremely close to her great-niece Sara Pennington and great-nephew Gavin Pennington. Obituary: Mack Phillips, 79, of Apopka, Florida passed away on 14, 2015 after a long 22 month battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Helga Phillips, and 6 children, Vickie, Howard, Siegfried, Nancy, Linda and Natalie, as well as 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mack was raised in a family with 8 other siblings, Louise, Nadine, Archie, Imogene, Herbert, 3 of which are surviving, Preston Jr., Voncille and Sybil. Most of Mack’s life was devoted to serving the country’s military. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Active Duty member for 26 years, followed by 21 years as a Civil Service member. He was very proud of his military service and the men and women whom served their country and even kept up with it after his retirement. Mack was also a very proud member of the Freemasons and Shriners. Mack enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for , 20, 2015 starting at 6pm, at the Apopka Baldwin Fairchild Chapel, with a Viewing following the Service.
