Obituary: Richard Pearce, co-owner of Barkingham Palace in Rockledge, FL, died unexpectedly on 8, 2016 at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Candi Pearce, and his six (yes, 6) children, Kevin, Chris, Kerry, John, Brian and Karen Alice; his 10 grandchildren, Kelsey, Dylan, Natalie, Colleen, Kristen, Will, Graham, Ellie, Holly and Zackery. Richard was born in New York and overcame a hard-scrabble upbringing to earn a chemical engineering degree from Columbia University and an MBA from Iona . He was a key member of the team that placed a science experiment to grow ultra-pure crystals in space aboard the space shuttle Columbia in 1996 (FTF80/WFF-03). Later in life, Richard, along with his wife Candi, opened Barkingham Palace in 2001. Their innovative dog-suite design quickly grew a loyal base of customers who immediately recognized them as fellow dog lovers. Together they also began the Gemini Golden Retrievers breeding program and have supplied hundreds of Brevard residents with beautiful and loving golden retrievers. Richard was an avid golfer and passed his love of the game onto his children. many brushes with golfing mediocrity, his game started to come together later in life, a fact he was very proud of. He spent many a Thanksgiving game hosting a regular pickup football game in the front yard for his children and their friends. Richards pride in his children and grandchildren was immediately obvious to everyone he met. He obsessively regaled strangers with stories about their lives and achievements. His family will remember Richard as always being close to a good book (usually a thriller or mystery), evening bowls of vanilla ice cream, morning paper deliveries, morning pancakes, barbershop quartets, and a generosity that made people feel loved and special in his presence. In lieu of flowers, Richards family requests that donations be made to Canine Companions for Independence or your local Golden Retriever Rescue organization. |

Obituary: Patricia Louise Pearce (nee Scotland) was born in Kingston, Jamaica on 30, 1920 as the second of Thomas and Nellie Scotlands five children. As a child Patricia was tried early in life, as she faced a near death bout with typhoid fever. She took no day for granted thereafter. At age 15 she studied shoe manufacturing and design. Working her way up in the ranks she was supervising her division by age 21. Towards the end of World War II, Patricia immigrated to the United States and settled her family in Brooklyn, New York.She worked for over 35 years, not only in the shoe industry, but also as a certified cosmetologist, real estate speculator and property manager. While admired for her business prowess, hospital volunteer work and devotion to St. Marks Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, Patricia was best known amongst friends and family as a tirelessly dedicated mother and loyal friend. In her time spent living in New York, she sponsored at least a dozen friends and family for visas to the United States-- many of whom considered her house as their first home in this new country. Patricias Brroklyn abode was known as a warm and welcoming gathering place for adults and neighborhood kids alike. retiring to Plantation Florida, Patricia continued to be very active in her church and community. She became a member of St. Benedicts Episcopal Church and a board member of the Broward Chapter United Nation Association of the USA. Patricia had 5 children, of whom she was very proud, each owing the success of their pursuits to the encouragement and example of their mother. She is predeceased by sons Nathan and Damon, and is survived by siblings Adassa, Sylvia, Mildred and Thomas (Norma) as well as daughter Dahlia and sons Mark (Nancy) and Ian (Yvette) Patricia is also survived by four beloved grand children: Candice, Dorian, Naima and Tyler. Patricias joy came from being surrounded by gaiety, laughter and her family. She loved to garden, cook-- and most of all--to entertain. She endeavored to be glamorous regardless of circumstance, bringing life and elegance to every occasion - even at the age of ninety. All who knew her would say that she loved with her whole being and will live forever in our hearts and minds. Patricia went on to glory on 31,2011. Obituary: 96, of Tampa, passed away on 13th, 2016. A native of Adrian, Georgia, she was born on a farm in 1919 to Oscar and Veta Barwick and was one of nine children. high school, she attended nursing school in Macon and upon graduation became a registered nurse. Like so many during that era, she came to Tampa during WWII and worked at what then was MacDill Field Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered as a selfless, kind, gentle and giving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Nellie volunteered for many years delivering food to shut-ins with Meals on Wheels and was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served well into her later life on the Altar Guild. Nellie is predeceased by her husband, David M. Pearce. She is survived by her step-daughter, Nancy Pomar (Gilbert) of Jacksonville; daughter, Mary Nell McLauchlin (Ed Ferko) of Canton, Georgia; son, George McLauchlin (Diane); and son, David H. Pearce (Linda), all of Tampa. In addition, she has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. A visitation is scheduled for , 15th from 6-8pm at Blount & Curry, 605 S. MacDill in Tampa. Services will be , 16th at 12 noon at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 509 East Twiggs in Downtown Tampa. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Foundation, Lifepath Hospice, or to a charity of your choice. |
