Obituary: Chris C. Papazian, 88 years old, was born 17, 1921 and passed away on 7, 2010. Chris was raised in a, Georgia and graduated from the Academy of Richmond in 1938. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Detroit, Michigan and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 5, 1942. He was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer after graduating from two specialist schools and served as Petty Officer First Class in Charge of the hydraulic crew with CASU units at several naval bases. He left the Navy on 16, 1945 and went to work for the General Motors as a Quality Control Inspector at the Detroit Diesel facility for 29 years. He retired on 1, 1983. In addition to working at General Motors, he had a Real Estate Salesman license and a income tax business called the In Tax service. Upon retirement he decided to move to St. Petersburg, FL where he enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. His love for golf carried over to managing several miniature golf courses throughout the St. Pete area. One was called Paradise Miniature Golf Course on St. Petersburg Beach and the other was located at the pier in downtown St. Petersburg. He was a non-denominational Born Again Christian and was the author of the book Ten False Doctrines Being Taught in Some of the Churches Today. He also has a website with his book online at www.thebibletruths.net. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He was a boy scout and a committeeman for the cub scouts. He was predeceased by his sons: Gregory Papazian, Chris Papazian Jr. Survivors are spouse: Jean Papazian, daughters: Melody Lopez and her husband Marc, Victoria Ware and her husband Hank. Grandchildren: Jennifer Duncan and her husband Preston, Alex Lopez, Christian Lopez, Great -Grandchild : Cylis Duncan, Brother: Dennis Papazian and his wife Mary. Nieces and Nephews: Elise Papazian , Louise Yardumian and her husband Haig, Ani Papazian, Marie Papazian, Leon Sarkisian and his wife Sharon, Garo Papazian and his wife Donna. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Mr. Papazian loving memory to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #13 of Pinellas , FL. or Annual Lenten Retreat at St. Johns Armenian Church. Obituary: Sergis Papasergi, 83, of Dunedin, Florida went to be with the Lord on , 7th, 2015 at Mease Countryside Hospital after a brief but tumultuous battle with cancer. “Sergio”, as he was affectionately known by his friends, was born in the small village of Flamoudi, Cyprus on 13, 1931. The second son, he decided to emigrate to the United States and arrived here in New York City on 6th, 1953 at the ripe age of 22 where, as he stated “the streets were paved in Gold”. He was so proud of his adopted country that he decided to enlist in the armed forces, joining the US Army on May 13th, 1954. He was discharged from active service on May 4th, 1956 and remained on Standby Reserve until 30, 1962. leaving the service, “Sergio” began his career as a waiter in some of New York City’s premier hotels. He married his loving wife Carol Ann Heidt on 21, 1961 and remained happily married until her death on 28th, 2005. were blessed with two children while in New York and the family moved to Florida in 1973. Once here, “Sergio” worked in a couple of different hotel restaurants until finding his “work home” in the beautiful Bon Appetit Restaurant at the Dunedin Marina. He spent 38 years there regaling loyal customers with his service, smile and stories. He finally retired in 2007 at the young age of 76 (although no one believed his age!) and customers still come in to this day looking for his welcoming smile. Once retired, “Sergio” spent his days tending to his backyard garden resplendent with all sorts of vegetables and fruit trees, walking the beach at Honeymoon Island, and watching WWE wrestling in the evenings when he wasn’t out dancing with the ladies. The unofficial “Mayor of Honeymoon Island” finally met his second soul mate Karen Berg who shared his love of wrestling and dancing and filled the last 6 years of his life with laughter. spent many hours together at the beach and enjoyed evenings at the American Legion. He will be missed by many. “Sergio” is survived by his four sisters Angela of London, England; Eleni and Georgia of Larnaca, Cyprus; and Maroulla of Limassol, Cyprus and two sisters-in-law, Joan Liggio and Edna Heidt of Mahopac, NY. He also leaves behind his fiancé Karen Berg of Pinellas Park, and two children Diane Speakman (52) of Pasadena, Maryland and Paul Papasergi (51) of Holiday, Florida. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren: Shannon Speakman (24), Tyler Speakman (21), Christopher Speakman (19), Carolyn Jenkins (11) (all of Pasadena MD) and Amanda Papasergi (21) of Holiday, Florida. Viewing will be held at The Sylvan Abbey on , 13th from 5PM-8PM. Services will be held on , 14th at 11:00 to be followed by the internment. Family and close friends are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the Bon Appetit in Dunedin after ’s services. |
