Obituary: Douglas Kent Ozias passed away suddenly on 28, 2013. He was born to Jesse Rayworth (JR) and Esther Blessing Ozias on 27, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and graduated from Marion High. Doug completed a BA and an MA in Education from State of Iowa (now University of Northern Iowa) where he also operated a coffee house in Cedar Falls. He taught middle school Science in Davenport, IA which prepared him for many of lifes challenges. Doug then became the counselor for visually and multi-impaired youth at the Iowa School for the Blind in Vinton where he met and married the school nurse, Janice Wilson, 45 years ago. spending the summer of 1969 on a road trip in the US and Canada from coast to coast, they arrived in Austin where Doug obtained his PhD from UT in Special Education, focusing on the blind and visually impaired under Professor Natalie Barraga. He trained vision specialists who successfully served that population nationwide. His work in the Texas Governors Coordinating Office for the Visually Handicapped resulted in vital coordination of services across agencies. Doug was instrumental in drafting and implementing legislation at the Texas Department of for unified training/certification of vision, hearing and speech/language screeners of children and special needs persons. He and Jan joined other professionals to establish the Texas chapter of the American School Association to promote quality health services and health education throughout Texas schools. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Iowa (Marion Lodge #6). He was active in son Orins scouting program through his completion of Eagle Scout rank. In every endeavor, he earned the respect and adoration of his true peers, and did not mind ucking the system Doug was an accomplished athlete and sportsman. He pursued diverse hobbies\ rock hunting and lapidary art; boating and fishing; engraving and shooting guns; racing and polishing classy cars; taking amazing road trips. He loved adventure and it usually managed to find him, typically with surprising twists. His last weekend was a gift to those of us joining him at the Vintage Racing nationals at Circuit of the Americas \ hearing about cars hed raced, crashed, rebuilt and enjoyed. His famed Easter hunts will endure in our memories and tales. Quality time with Doug revealed his true gentleman nature and refined sense of style and compassion. His well-honed humor peeked through even the most serious conversations. We miss him sorely, as we recall \ and will find more signs of -his judiciously allotted pearls of wisdom. Doug will always know the love of family in the best sense of the word: Esther Rocarek; Janice, Orin, Jill, and Jocelyn Claire Ozias; Dr. Natalie Barraga; Zane and Shannon Hammonds; Dr. Tom Betz; Crocker; and Bob Glover cherish the times they shared with him. He diligently supported stepmother Dorothae after his dads passing. His teammates at Marion High and special characters, like BJ Stark, Larry Brooks, and Coach Hipple were fodder for great recollections. Cousins Gary, Koleen, Sue and Marilyn are in our thoughts as we remember their stories. The family appreciates the staff at Scott and White Emergency Hospital in Cedar Park for their valiant efforts and kindnesses. Douglas preferred impromptu gatherings to formal services. There will be only a private celebration of his life. Doug was not one for most organized groups; any who wish to honor his memory may donate in his name to their favorite charities. |

Obituary: Dorothae Louise Ozias, 88, of Marble Falls joined her Lord late , 19, 2015 following complications of a chronic illness. She was born 28, 1926 to A.C. and Lillian Moore Rucker in Tucumcari, New Mexico. As an adult, she lived in San Diego, CA and later in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she worked as a meat cutter for Wilson Packing . She and Jesse Rayworth (JR) were married 50 years before his death in 2004. retired in 1976 to Lake Buchanan to be closer to his sons family in Austin. Dorothae enjoyed nature photography during their long summer camping trips to northern mountains, lakes, and even the Columbia Icefield. Dorothae was committed to her faith and active in the Foursquare and Assembly of God church communities. She published a gospel song: On Thee I Call. She was known for being positive and friendly and willing to try most any craft by neighbors at Lake Buchanan and later at Highland Oaks and Gateway Gardens when she moved to Marble Falls. She was the last of her mothers seven children-the last sister passing on Good , 2015. She was also predeceased by her step-son, Dr. Douglas Ozias in 2013. She is survived by Douglas widow, Jan Marie Ozias, son Orin, and granddaughter Jocelyn. Her dear church friends were family in her heart. At her request, a private service only will occur. We thank the staff of Gateway Gardens, Marble Falls EMS, and Seton Williamson for their skilled care. Obituary: Sidney Ozer age 92, of San Antonio, died , 21, 2005. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on 1, 1913. A visit to San Antonio was a blessing when his aunt Ella Weiner arranged a blind date with Winnie Heubaum. His move to Texas followed in 1941. married on 4, 1941 and spent 57 beautiful years together. Sid was twice a recipient of the Jewish FederationÂs PresidentÂs Award, and was active over the years in multiple organizations in both the Jewish and general community, including Golden Manor where he was a member of the Founding Board in 1968, Temple Beth-El, Foster Grandparents, and the Brandeis Book Fair. He has served on the national Board of MyriamÂs Dream an organization involved in helping the aged and handicapped in Israel and around the world. Additionally, he was a tireless and dedicated fundraiser for decades. He was a member of the Blue Bird Auxiliary at Methodist Hospital for over 15 years. Sid will be remembered for his giving of Susan B. Anthony dollars and his great sense of humor. Winnie preceded him in death on 12, 1998. Survivors in San Antonio, son, Michael and wife, Patricia; grandsons, Zachary and Joshua; in Austin, son, Robert and wife, Janet Dewey and grandchildren, Hannah, Nora and Benjamin; brothers, Beryl Ozer of Monroe Township, NJ and Harold Ozer and wife, Rhea of Delray Beach, FL. Mrs. Ozborn was born on 2, 1933 in Roaring Springs, TX. to the late George Washington and Mary Elvira (Martin) Yandell. She married Delmer Nolan Ozborn on 9, 1952 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death on 12, 1995. She was a lifetime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Roaring Springs. Mrs. Ozborn owned and operated Wagon Wheels drive-in from 1957-1970 until the tornado blew the building away. She also worked for K-Mart for several years. Mrs. Ozborn is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary, husband, Delmer, three brothers, Wesley, Ross, Slim, and three sisters, Cleo, Sarah, and Molly. Those left to cherish her memory are; two daughters, Cindy Wolfe and husband Tim, and Dee Dee Ozborn. Obituary: Paul Ozanus died 15, 2015, after a short illness at the age of 93. He was born 6, 1921 in Calumet City, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Peter Ozanus and Elizabeth Shephard Ozanus, Lithuanian immigrants; his brother, Tony Ozanus; and his sister, Alice Ozanus Zorka. Paul met Olive B. Greer when he was downtown in Hammond, Indiana. Their first date was sky high in his private plane the next day. It was love at first sight, as he told it. Their love grew stronger and stronger over the 57 years of marriage. Paul attended Thornton Fractional High School and Purdue University. He retired after 41 years of employment with Mobil Oil Corporation in East Chicago, Indiana and Beaumont, Texas. retirement he and Olive traveled for two years. then settled in Georgetown, Texas where he could play golf year round. Along the way, he developed many long lasting friendships. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Paul is survived by his wife, Olive Greer Ozanus, his children; Paulette Ozanus Klein, Paul Scott Ozanus and Debbie Ozanus and William Paul Ozanus; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Paul was an avid golfer and loved to play golf with his friends at Berry Creek Country Club and his family. He also enjoyed coaching his sons baseball teams where he won the City League Championship. Throughout his life he was a passionate and caring dog owner and loved to go on long walks with his four legged friends. He was devoted to his church and his family and loved by all and will be greatly missed. A private service will be held for the immediate family, , 18, 2015.
