Obituary: John Henry Owens was born on 7, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was raised in Shreveport by his parents, Willie Mae (Owens) and Lonza Bigam. His biological father Willie Latin and his parents, Willie Mae (Madea) & Lonza all preceded him in death. John was the eldest son of 3 boys, Lonza Lee and Arthur Lee (who preceded him in death). He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Later he went to trade school where he was trained as an aircraft mechanical technician. During his time in Shreveport, John had two daughters, Gail & Marilyn. Later, he moved to Dallas. He had 5 more children: Anthony, Deborah (Debbie), Sharon, Angela (Pebbles), and Gwendolyn (Gwen). John later married Mary Alice Lee on 14, 1969. From this union was born Johnette (Niki) and Ephraim. Mary's older daughter, Robette (Shebo) and her 2 younger siblings, Johnette & Ephraim grew up together as family in Dallas, Texas. John Henry was committed to building a solid vision of success throughout his life and he worked hard to establish his personal legacy. He had a great career working for several aviation services and successfully retired after 37 years of service at Lone Star Steel & General Dynamics Aviation Services in 2007. John's transition to the retired life landed him fully in his "dream hobby", where he developed his passion for and spent countless hours ranching. John enjoyed the "finer things in life" which included: collecting and listening to music, collecting ranching and cowboy memorabilia, fine crystal, hosting yearly family gatherings, and of course laughing and joking about everything and everyone! John gave his heart to Jesus in his adult life and attended church at Stevens Temple COGIC with Mary. John peacefully made his transition to be with the Lord on evening, 2nd with his loving wife at his side. He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Mary Alice, His children: Gail Cage, Marilyn Jack, Anthony (w.Rose) Small, Sharon Owens, Debbie (h.Leslie) Echols, Angela Woodard, Gwen (h.Steve) Chambers, Johnette (h.Ed) Morris, Ephraim Owens, and Robette Lee. His brother, Lonza Lee (w.Jerri) Bigam and "sister" Diane (Connell) Wilson. 12 grandchildren: Tameka & Lateisha [mother-Gail], Torri & Anthony [father-Anthony], Veronica (preceded him in death), Kanika, Khavelle [mother-Sharon], Leslie Jr., Christopher, Bryson [mother-Debbie], Desmond [mother-Gwen], Alana (Gabri) [mother-Robette]: 8 great- grandchildren: Adopted sons: Donnie Owens and James Ross: a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, relatives, friends, and associates. |
