Obituary: WARD ORSINGER II NOVEMBER 24, 1948-FEBRUARY 11, 2014 Ward Orsinger II, musical wizard of piano, harp, and steel guitar, passed through the veil into The Silent Music of Love on 11, 2014 at the Houston, Texas apartment he shared with his devoted wife, Gloria, who was with him throughout his two year wrestling match with prostate cancer. Ten years ago he married his Glory, with whom he shared the last and happiest years of his life. In 2010, his granddaughter Charlis birth brightened his life with her delightful impishness and shared love of music. Even in illness, he managed to conquer the hearts of doctors, nurses, and caregivers, as well as wait staff, bartenders, and musicians all over Houston. a full and rich life of living and loving, he flies free again, this time into the light of Christ, his companion and savior. Obituary: ORSINGER Charles G. Orsinger 20, 1921- 18, 2011 Charles Orsinger, after a life full of humor and kindness, challenges and success, loyalty and devotion, has gone home to God. He died peacefully on 18, 2011 surrounded by family members. He was escorted out of this world by a blue jay who first had a long drink of water from the birdbath outside his window, refreshment for the journey home to LOVE. Charlie was born 20, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas to Mary Louise and Gunther Orsinger. He graduated from the first class of the brand new Jefferson High School where he made lifelong friends. He attended Washington and Lee University for two years, pledging SAE, before transferring to UT-Austin, where he met and married the most beautiful girl on campus, Lorraine ÂSissy Davenport, of Runge, Texas. were married two days short of 68 years. He volunteered for active duty in the U.S Army in 1944, despite qualifying for deferment, serving as a finance officer in the Pacific theatre. recovering from amoebic dysentery, he returned home to his grateful bride and proceeded to become a father to three children. Beginning in 1955, he built one of the top 20 Buick dealerships in the U.S. over the next 38 years while becoming a community leader, including being crowned King Antonio XLIX. Inspired by the military tradition of wearing medals, he punched holes in KingÂs coins and attached a ribbon and pin, initiating the now wildly popular tradition of Fiesta medals. He also served the community as an early member of the board of Trustees of the San Antonio Medical Foundation when the Medical was only a cow pasture, a long-time Trustee of Trinity University and the National Bank of Commerce, a board member of many organizations including the United Way, Morningside Ministries, and Mission Road Development . He was a member of the Texas Cavaliers, the Conopus Club, SACC, and the Argyle. His family and friends remember him for being kind, fun, and gentle. Business and community friends remember him as smart, tough, and generous. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, having been baptized there as an infant, and serving as a deacon and an elder for many years. The love and devotion of his faithful wife, Sissy, and his faith in Jesus Christ sustained him through some tough trials, which come to any life. We are confident that he is in the company of our Lord, who has welcomed him with the blessing, ÂWell done, good and faithful servant. Matt. 25:21. Surviving him are his wife, Sissy, his brother, Albert Orsinger, and wife, Jeanne, of San Antonio, his son Ward Orsinger II and wife, Gloria, of Seguin, daughter Gay Orsinger Parks and husband, Harvey, of Whitewright, TX, daughter Jana Orsinger and husband, Bill Orr, of San Antonio, grandchildren John Stofa and wife, Gena, Charles Stofa and wife, Sue, Marla Mason Ross and husband, Scott, Sasha Orsinger Wolfe and husband, Donnie, and Ryan Orsinger and wife, Kimberly.
