Obituary: Beverly Ruth Baltzelle Oakes 68, of Rendon, Texas passed from this life , 7, 2017 in Fort Worth TX. Mrs. Oakes was born May 4, 1948 in Fort Worth to James Brandon Baltzelle and Frances Suter Baltzelle. She was Office Manager for Olin Ragsdale Insurance Agency from 1980 - 2000 when she became the Office Manager at Imagetek Office Systems in Arlington. Beverly retired in the summer of 2011 shortly after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Beverly grew up in Haslet and graduated from the University of North Texas with a BBA in Fashion Merchandising. Beverly married Weldon Douglas Oakes 15, 1970; their son, Marty, was born in 1973 and recalls with fondness Beverly being an adopted mother to so many of his friends; she actively enjoyed supporting them as she did her own family. Also, as a member of Eastern Star, Beverly and the family were very active with the Masonic , she organized quarterly birthday parties and yearly Christmas parties for the adopted orphanage house for whom Deer Creek Lodge was responsible. Beverly and Weldon were married for and lived in Rendon for 47 years - Weldon has been her faithful caretaker and best friend the entire time; especially the last six years. She was a lifelong member St. Andrews Episcopal Church. In her early years of marriage Beverly was an avid fisherwoman, often competing in husband/wife bass fishing tournaments with Weldon and going on countless fishing vacations with her husband and son. Beverly was a passionate TCU fan and enjoyed many football and baseball games and trips with friends and family. In her nearly six-year cancer battle, she was a fervent supporter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition both financially and by promoting and walking, rain or shine, in each annual NOCC DFW Run/Walk event. Despite her continuous chemo therapy treatments, her life style continued to be active; full of Brandons baseball and football games and Carsynns soccer and horse riding events, and Womens Bible Study at St. Andrews. She valued her set date of picking up of her grandchildren from school and spending that weekly time doing homework, dinners and playing. Always the adoring Grandmommy, she enjoyed afternoon tea parties with Carsynn, reading books and talking sports with Brandon, and special family gatherings. She was a light to others as she fought the good fight; and her end in this world was as peaceful as her fight was valiant. The family expresses thanks to Dr. Noelle Cloven and the staff at Texas Oncology 12th Avenue; 7th Floor Oncology nurses and staff at Baylor All Saints Hospital and Vitas Hospice at Baylor Scott & White All Saints, for their faithful loving care.
