Obituary: Thomas Morton OConnor, 78, passed from this life on Oct. 7, 2010 in Austin, TX. He was born in Clinton , Missouri, Nov. 10, 1931 to B. T. and Agnes OConnor. He graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1949, and farmed with his father until he joined the US Air Force in 1952. He was schooled in electronics and radar at Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado, and then became a Radar Technician at Perrin AFB, Sherman, TX, where he worked on the exact fighter jet that is on display at Camp Mabry, Austin, TX. On Oct. 1, 1957, he proudly became an employee of IBM and enjoyed a career of 30 years - with 22 of them in Kansas City, MO, and 8 in San Jose, CA before retiring in Austin, TX. During his career he was Sr. Customer Engineer Specialist and Sr. Program Support Representative in Kansas City and San Jose, then worked in Software Test and Development at Santa Teresa Lab in San Jose. He was presented IBM Means Service Awards in both fields, in Recognition for Outstanding Accomplishments in Service. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Ford, on 5, 1952, and they enjoyed 58 years devoted to each other. were blessed with two children, Thomas Michael and Anita Loraine. He loved all of his family and the times they spent together. Watching football and repairing anything that needed it were among his favorite things to do, as well as playing cards with many of their friends. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Austin; son Michael OConnor of Houston; Olive OConnor of Houston; daughter, Loraine Moulder and husband Jim of Cedar Park; three grandsons, Brian Poolman of Austin, TX; Daniel Poolman of Austin/Houston; Sean Poolman of San Marcos, TX; Granddaughter, Melanie Diggins, Great-Granddaughters Adrienne Diggins and Alix OQuinn; a brother, Donald OConnor ( Helen), of Plattsburg, MO; four sisters, Loretta Broderick (Tom), Plattsburg, MO, Juanita Thornton (Jim), Liberty, MO; Charlene Swope (Emerson) of Joplin, MO, Peggy Evans (John) of Smithville, MO; twelve nieces and nephews, all of Missouri, and several cousins, living in the Midwest.. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Watkins, Dr. Robert Canby and staff at Texas Cardiac-Arrhythmia and Dr. Stuart McKennon for their excellent care in the past 20 yrs. Thanks also to Seton Medical Austin for the care given the many, many times he was a patient there. Tom will be remembered at a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., , 16, 2010, at the Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road. There will be a reception following the service. Obituary: services with full military honors for LTC (Ret) Theodore Russell OConnor, 51, of Copperas Cove will be 11:30 a.m. , 23, 2010 at Crawford-Bowers Chapel of Copperas Cove. Rev. Dallas Maham of the First Presbyterian Church of Copperas Cove will officiate. Burial will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans in Killeen. Mr. OConnor passed away 21, 2010, in a Temple Hospital. Theodore Russell OConnor was born 24, 1959 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Theodore E. and Sandra (Couch) OConnor. He graduated from Texas Tech University and received a Masters from Tarleton State University. Mr. OConnor was an assistant Cub and Boy Scout Leader and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Copperas Cove. He has lived in this area for many years, serving in the US Army and was a member of VFW Post #3393 of Kempner. retirement from the Army, he worked as a civil servant for Sims Contractors at Fort Hood. Ted was preceded in death by his father. Obituary: Raymond M. O'Connor Sr., age 84 of Amarillo died May 30, 2015 in Amarillo. A rosary will be said on evening at 6:00 PM at Schooler , Brentwood Chapel. The funeral mass will be held on at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral. The celebrant will be Rev. Scott Raef. are by Schooler , 4100 South Georgia. Raymond was a Christmas baby, born on 25, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to John Joseph and Marie Sweeney O'Connor. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh. He was proud to have served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was involved in the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. He and his family moved to Amarillo in the early 1960's. Beginning with his two years as a young man in the seminary, Raymond had a deep devotion to the Catholic Church, never missing daily Mass or weekly Adoration. He was a loving husband, compassionate father, and loyal friend. Among his family and friends, Raymond was famous for his one line "zingers." He retired in 2000 from International Paper after a long and very successful career in sales. Outside of his career, Raymond enjoyed a good game of golf and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He is much loved and will be missed by his family. Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly A. Sherwood in 1976. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Larry, and Paul O'Connor; a daughter Heather Elizabeth Gibson; and a son Phillip Avery O'Connor. He is survived by his wife Irene (Rennie) of 37 years; three daughters, Christine Stickrod and husband David of Amarillo, Kathleen Sievek and husband Tim of El Paso, and Erin O'Connor of Dallas; four sons, Raymond M. O'Connor, Jr. and wife Melissa of Fort Worth, James A. O'Connor and wife Christine of Dallas, Thomas J. O'Connor and wife Sue of Keller, and Robert A. O'Connor of Arlington; thirteen grandchildren, Raymond III, Marjorie, Casey, Keegan, Caleb, Amy, Ryan, Trevor, Christopher, Melody, Jessica, Jared, Jacob; three great grandchildren, James, Riley, and Melissa The family suggests memorials be made to Food for the Poor or Mission to Magadon (http://www.archdioceseofanchorage.org/ministries/mission-magadan) |
