She was preceded in death by her husband; Oliver Samuel Owen, daughter; Sammie Gail Mayben, parents; Jim and Pearl Clark, sisters; Nell Jo Huggins and Shirley Ann Simmons and brother; Lonnie Clark. She is survived by her daughter; Nell Owen Minton, sons-in-law; Wess Eugene Minton and Ronald Glen Mayben, grandchildren; Dr. Robert E. Mayben (Meggin), Lara Owen Murray (Brandon), Molly Katherine Gulas (Gusty) and Morgan Taylor Minton, great grandchildren; Cole Robert Murray, Carter Michael Murray, Samuel Monroe Mayben and Madelyn Clark Mayben, brother; Wayne D. Clark (Martha), brother-in-law; Ray Simmons, sister-in-law; Ruth Clark and best friend, Sara Stringer. Obituary: OWEN, WILLIAM HOYT Owen, William Hoyt, age 101, born 2, 1908 in Birmingham, AL, left this world peacefully on 11 to be with his Lord and Savior. Hoyt was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. He married Martha Hilton in 1932 and following her death, married Mildred Morse in 1993. Mr. Owen retired as Street Sales Manager from the Birmingham News after 50 years of service. He was a proud member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years and was a past Master. In addition, he was active with the Shiners Organization. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Martha and his wife of 14 years, Mildred as well as two sisters, Sarah Patterson and Louise Owen; two brothers, Robert Owen and George Owen. He is survived by his daughter, Lillian Owen Lamb; his grandson, William D. Lamb and his wife Ellen; two great-grandchildren, Justyn Elizabeth and Owen Lamb; a brother, Hubert Owen; two sisters-in-law, Ann Owen and Mildred Skelton ; and many nieces and nephews. His hobbies were few, as he worked hard most all his life, but got great joy in baking pound cakes for friends and spending time walking around Star Lake. William Hoyt Owen will be remembered as a kind and generous man who always had an encouraging word for everyone and was a pillar of stability for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful caregivers that took such loving care of Hoyt. Visitation will be held on , 16, 2010 at Ridouts Elmwood Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm. services will be held at the chapel at 1:00 pm on , 17, 2010 with burial to follow in Elmwood . |

Visitation will be , 29, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Clayton and Lona Owen; brother, James ""Jim"" Owen; sisters, Joyce Traywick (Jimmy) and Carol Wingard (Walt); and granddaughter, Courtney Samantha Benton.Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Fields Owen; daughter, Terisa Darlene Sissy Phillips Benton (Andy); sons, Robert Owen, Jr. (Tammy), Jim Phillips (Denise) and Joe Clayton Owen; grandchildren, Josh Owen, Robert A. Big Al was an avid hunter and fisherman. He went on many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. A few of the many exotic trips he made were to Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Louisiana, Alaska, Texas, Missouri and many other places.He enjoyed being with his family and friends at every opportunity. Most of all, he enjoyed the special time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Many times Paw Paw would cook steaks on the grill and have his family over to eat. Over the years, he would take his family of over 20 members to the beach for summer vacation. Obituary: Memorial Service for Mr. Norman Gene "Gene 0 - Rowdy" Owen, 71, we be 6 pm, , 8, 2015 at 1st Baptist Church of White Plains. Mr. Owen went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ evening. He died at his residence surrounded by his wife, son, grandson, many family members and church family, after losing his battle with liver cancer. Survivors include his wife, Ginger Williams Owen; sons, David Eugene Owen and Chris Owen (Holly); grandchildren, Tyler, Mikayla, and Chase; sister, Lorena Owen Griffith and many nieces, nephew and cousins. Mr. Owen is preceded in death by his parents, Lilly Austin and Albert Gordon Owen and sister, Earnestine Owen Hall. Mr. Owen was born Oct. 6, 1943 in White Plains. He graduated for White Plains High in 1961. He married Ginger Williams 2, 1972 in Calhoun . Mr. Owen worked for Monsanto for 18 years and for URS maintenance group at COBRA Unit for 23 years where he retired. The family would like to extend special thanks to, Dr. David Chaulk, Misty Beecham, Gentiva Hospice Martha, Tracy and Amanda. Also the liver transplant team at UAB, Dr. Echoff and staff.
