Obituary: Dr. David Anthony Otto, Jr., age 68, died on , 10, 2017 at his home on Lay Lake in Alabama. Born in Wichita Falls, TX on 25, 1948, he grew up with his brother and five sisters. Upon graduation from Rider High School, David attended the University of Dallas where he graduated with his BA in Chemistry in 1970. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. his Honorable Discharge, he obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. He made a number of notable contributions to the scientific field before launching into an entrepreneurial career running his own business for 22 years, officially retiring 31, 2017. David was a devout Catholic attending mass regularly at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Indian Springs, AL for 25 years and Saint Jude in Sylacauga, AL for the last six years. David embodied his devotion to the Catholic faith through volunteer work at the church including the Boy Scouts, regular visits to area nursing homes, and leadership in scripture study. David was a committed husband, father, and grandfather spending much of his life with his family. He will be missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Anthony Otto, Sr., and mother, Anna Mae Litteken Otto. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee Sledd Grammar Otto; brother, Jimmy Otto and wife Hallie; and five sisters, Suzanne Branning and husband Ron, Anna Otto, Cecelia Moreland and husband John, Therese Pfullmann and husband Roger, and Patty Retta and husband Ben. David is also survived by his four children, Richard Grammar and fiancé Katie, Christine M. Otto Chambers and her husband Stephen, Katherine Otto Dease and her husband Joseph, and Greg Otto and his wife Kendal; and 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Nick, Jack, Stephen, Avery, Tristan, Connor, Ethan, Caleb, Mason, and Alexis. David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, deep thinker, and one of the kindest hearts to have blessed this earth. The rosary, visitation, and mass will be on , 14, 2017 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 5514 Double Oak Lane, Birmingham, AL 35242. The rosary will be at 12 noon followed immediately by visitation. The Mass will be at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either Saint Jude Catholic Church in Sylacauga, AL or Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Indian Springs, AL. |

Obituary: Ronald Lee Ott, Jr., age 32, a resident of Hope Hull, AL passed away , 18, 2017 at his residence. Visitation was held , 23, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Ridouts Prattville Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel with Minister Mark Jones officiating. Interment followed in New Liveoak , Selma, AL at 1:00 PM.
