Obituary: Diana Gayle (Prince) ODaniell, 58, left this earth on 20, 2017 with her husband, son & daughter lovingly wishing her farewell. Diana was born in El Reno, OK on 25, 1958 to Carolyn (Homier) and Raymond Lee Prince. Diana grew up in Tuttle, OK graduating from Tuttle High School in 1976. She was a member of the band and 4H club excelling in home economics creating many crafts, baked goods and clothing winning many awards for these items entered into county & state fairs. Her interest and enjoyment for sewing extended with her making her own clothes as a teen, into her adulthood producing matching shirts/outfits for her husband & her, husband - son and later her & her daughter. Diana began work at 14 years-old, waiting tables at a local café before school & on weekends. high school she worked at the Big TG&Y at SW 74th & Penn in OKC where she met her future husband, David. On 10, 1978 she wed David Hugh ODaniell at Southwood Baptist Church in OKC. She began her career at the State Insurance Commission in the Claims Dept. and for the Investigators. She later worked for a Law firm advancing to para-legal work. She made her big career change to a fulltime stay-at-home mother and homemaker in 1984 shortly after Derek was born. Being diagnosed before 40 with Multiple Sclerosis, she continued her task of mother/homemaker coping with the increasing struggles of her MS. Her strength, determination and downright love allowed her to get our last child, Dana, into her senior year of high school before her MS started limiting her mobility. She continued her fight through the ups & downs to remain independent for many years utilizing a walker around the house. She eventually had to depend on her lifelong companion, David for mobility and total care over the last year of life after advancing complications. Though bedridden she remained positive to the end working so very hard at therapy to build her strength, determined to once again independently travel through the house independently. Diana enjoyed cats (lot of cats), crafts, antiquing, sewing, quilting, collecting Barbies, scrapbooking, EBAY, Facebook, attending swap-meets and garage sales, being a mother, swimming in the pool, the Voice show, Days of Our Lives, Dr. Phil, Judge Judy and watching horror & thriller movies. Diana was predeceased by our lovely little daughter Ashley Denise ODaniell; her parents Carolyn and Raymond Lee Prince; her sister Gwenda K. Martinez; her maternal grandparents Orval and Lula Homier, her paternal grandparents Luther and Anna Mae Prince and her brother and sister-in-law Mark Ray and Tami ODaniell. She is survived by her son Derek Adam ODaniell of OKC; daughter and son-in-law Dana Nicole ODaniell Moore and Levi Garrett Moore of OKC; Brother and sister-in-law Brian Martin Prince and Jennifer Prince with nieces Kaily and Elizabeth Prince of Newcastle, OK; Mother & Father-in-law Leonard Ray and Virginia Ann ODaniell of OKC; nieces Michelle Martinez and Peyton Gomez of Yukon, OK; brother-in-law and wife Marty and Linda Martinez; many special loving cousins, nieces and nephews and her husband of the house David Hugh ODaniell whom she made the happiest dude on earth in 1977 when she said Yes and married me the following year allowing me to share her life, love, companionship, 3 children and all the ups and downs of life. She was the love of my life & we shared more life than most families would in multiple generations. But through it all we had each other to carry on hand in hand up & over every hill that came our way. Sweetheart you will never know just how much I love you and how much I will miss you, Ill see you soon. We spent every minute of the last year together, me sleeping in the easy-chair, caring for you and focusing totally on you and you e every need, word, touch. But this time was precious, all those minutes, seconds together our love and closeness shown through. We would reminisce of days goneby and our plans for the future. This closeness adds to the hollow place in my heart which will never be filled. I love you sweetie, take care of Ashley until I can hold you again. Her memorial service will be held 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Bill Merritt , 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK, 73008 with a small graveside service following at Resurrection in OKC. Family asks in lieu of flowers for donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), a beneficiary of Diana and Davids for many years. |

Obituary: William Bill Edward OConnor, a WWII veteran who witnessed the raising of the American Flag on Iwo Jima and was a pioneering member of the NASA team which put the first man on the Moon, passed from this life on 26, 2011. He was born in Washington, D.C. on 18, 1923, the second of three children of Ruth Rabbit OConnor and William Jennings OConnor. Bills father, who was supporting three families as an automobile mechanic during the Great Depression, died in an automobile pedestrian accident when Bill was 9 years old and the family struggled to survive. Bill worked as a soda jerk to help the family and joined the naval reserves at 16. When he was 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and entered active duty 1, 1941. He served on the USS J. Fred Talbott, a World War I era destroyer that operated along the Atlantic coast and in the Caribbean protecting American shipping and the Panama Canal during World War II. Bill was transferred to the destroyer USS Hyman (DD-732) in 1945 and witnessed the raising of the American flag at the top of Mount Suribachi in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He often told the story of how the Hymans searchlights kept the slope of Mount Suribachi illuminated for the Marines final push to the top of the peak, which was soon to fly the American flag. Bill later survived an attack on the Hyman near Okinawa when a kamikaze hit the ship leaving 12 US sailors dead and 40 wounded. Following World War II Bill began work at the Naval Ordinance Lab. In 1947 he met Paris France when Paris came to his mothers house to help plan a bridal shower for her sister who was to marry a cousin of Bills stepfather. Bill and Paris married on Valentines Day in 1948. In 1951 Bill was recalled to military service and worked on the commissioning and shake-down cruise of the USS Currituck, and served for 18 months in Cuba. In 1960 Bill was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to join a new endeavor of the United States - to put a man on the Moon. He became a part of the staff of NASA at the Goddard Space Flight in Greenbelt, MD, and worked as a power plant engineer for all of the space flight missions through 1978. He served as a part of the mission team for each of the Apollo space flights including Apollo 11. Bill and Paris built a home in Howard , MD in 1956. In 1960 their daughter Catherine Ruth was born and eighteen months later Melissa Ann. Bill loved hunting and fishing and raised beagles and bird dogs. When Melissa was 7, he bought the familys first horse, which began a love of horses by his children and grandchildren that continues to this day. Bill was a devoted father and husband and the family spent weekends and vacations camping, going to the beach, having picnics and crab feasts in the backyard and riding horses. In 1978, Bill retired from NASA and decided to try ranching in Oklahoma. Bill, Paris and Melissa moved to Tecumseh Oklahoma in 1978 where they raised horses, cows and grandchildren. Bill continued to hunt quail, learned to play golf and took care of his family. Throughout his life he was a man of quiet integrity and tolerance. He raised his daughters to believe they could accomplish anything they desired and instilled in them the importance of family, friends and service to others. His family will miss him greatly and will always cherish the memories of the charmed childhood he gave to his children and grandchildren. The things he valued most were his wife, Paris, his children, his grandchildren and his service to his country. Bill is survived by his wife Paris, his daughter Catherine OConnor, his daughter Melissa Walker and her husband Kevin Walker, his granddaughter Meredith Walck Wolfe and her husband Michael Wolfe, his granddaughter Rachel Ginter, and grandsons Clinton Walker and John William Jennings Walker. He is also survived by his sister and her husband Rose and William Clark of Clinton, MD; his brother Eugene Donald OConnor and his wife Kena of Roanoke, VA; and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of Quail Ridge Assisted Living, Bellevue and especially the fine nurses and doctors of St. Anthonys Hospital. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Anthonys Hospital Foundation, 826 NW 11th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106, or to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund online at www.fallenheroesfund.org or mailing address at Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, ATTN: Contributions, One Intrepid Square, West 46th Street & 12th Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10036.
