Obituary: Donald Stewart Overman, 53, of Zebulon, died evening, 17, 2011 at Rex Hospital. Service will be held 2 p.m. , 21, 2011 at Branch Chapel F.W.B. Church, Hwy 96 North, Selma, NC. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park with police honors. The family will receive friends at Montlawn from 6:00 – 8:00 PM , 20, 2011. A native of Carteret , Don was born 25, 1957, the son of the late Leon Shirley Overman and Kathleen Wiggs Overman. He was a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan and after serving several years on the Morehead City Police Department Don moved to Raleigh and had a 30 year career with the Raleigh Police Department retiring as Captain/District Commander. Don was a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA., a professional course of study for law enforcement leaders. Don is survived by his wife, Cheryl Southerland Overman of the home; son, Samuel S. Overman; daughters, Magen M. Overman, Caroline R. Overman and Kathleen Overman, all of Raleigh; step daughters, Danielle Alford and Cierra Alford; brother, Timothy Gray Overman of Morehead City; sisters, Kathy Pake of Bettie, NC and Jeannie Kelly of Raleigh. Obituary: Pearl was born to Elmer & Jennie Bishop on 23rd, 1927 in Pocahontas , Iowa. During the depression years at an early age, she began living with her aunt Annie and uncle Rob who loved and cared for her like their own. Pearl remained with them until graduating in May 1945 and then went on to marry her school sweetheart and have 3 precious children: Linda, Carson, & Dennis Carpenter. Pearl worked at various secretarial jobs throughout her life, but by far her favorite and most important position in life was that of being a mother. She said marriage and parenting came with challenges struggles, heartache, and lessons, but most importantly it came with lots and lots of love! In the summer of 1957 there was a fire that destroyed their home. A young farmer Pearl had casually met in a coffee shop was volunteering in the cleanup of the fire and after a difficult week he asked her out to an evening of good eating and casual visiting. On 10, 1957, along with her 3 children, they all became a family. Drexel Overeen, he farmer and husband of 44 years, went home to be with the Lord in of 2001 after an eighteen-month battle with cancer. The following year She moved to Hope Mills, N.C. to be with her daughter Linda and family. Knowing Pearl, you knew the 3 things most important in her life were her service to the Lord and the reading and studying of His Word; her family; and her friendships. Her ministries over the years include school teacher, adult bible study leader, missions work, and a counselor for families of alcohol and drug addiction. Most important she loved telling others about Jesus and that they needed to believe in Him and have faith in Him. Her family knew how much they were loved; by her words, her care, her encouragement, and wisdom. If you were blessed to be Pearls friend, you knew you were important and cherished for a lifetime. Even after she became more homebound, her ministry of sending cards and notes was a blessing to many. Pearl leaves behind her daughter, Linda Carpenter Rouse; sons Carson (Lynn) Carpenter, Dennis (Judy) Carpenter; brothers, Lawrence and Robert Bishop; sister-in-laws Dorothy & Marilyn Bishop; grandchildren; Tamie (Mike), Troy (Pam), Tonja (Mark), Chelsey (Joe), Amy (Chris), Dawn (Tony), Tia, Sheila (Trent); and many special great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Pearl was welcomed into eternity by Jesus; her husband Drexel Overeen; her brothers Lester, Leo, and Herbert Bishop; her sister, Shirley Tuttle; her parents; and a special aunt Sarah and uncle Robert McDonnel; brother-in-law Lanny Tuttle; sister-in-laws, Mae, Marylou, and Betty Bishop; and son-in-law Ray Rouse. Obituary: .Mr. Willard Bost Overcash, 88 of Salisbury passed away on , 1, 2017 at Novant Rowan Medical . Born on 18, 1928 in Rowan , he was the son of the late Luther Monroe and Emma Bost Overcash. Educated at the Parks School, he loved to work in his garden and drive his tractor. Mr. Overcash worked for many years in Cannon Mills. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 69 years, Beatrice Brady Overcash and daughter Alesia Overcash Lewis (Butch) of Salisbury. In addition he is survived by his grandchildren Brad Boling and fiance Melinda of Kannapolis and Sydney and Collin Lewis both of Salisbury. Also surviving him are his brothers Wayne Overcash (Linda) of Whiteville and Curtis Overcash (Betty) of Salisbury and sister Carolyn Allman of Salisbury. Visitation will be on from 1:00 til 2:00 at Linn Honeycutt with funeral to follow at 2:00 also at the funeral home with burial at Carolina Memorial Park. Born 2, 1943 in Creston, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edgar George Milam and Torrence Graybeal Milam. Wanda retired as a seamstress in the furniture industry. She enjoyed working puzzles, reading, playing bingo and spending time with her grandsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jaymie Overcash; and brothers, Fritz Milam, Charles Milam, John Milam, Jack Milam, and Jerry Milam.
