Obituary: Owen Dean Obermeyer, age 77, of Kiester, MN died , 11, 2014 St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. A funeral service will be held , 16 at 1:00pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Kiester, MN. Visitation will be held , 15 from 4 – 7pm at Bruss-Heitner in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on . Pastors Greg Ofsdahl and David Hernes will officiate and burial will be at the Our Saviors Lutheran in Kiester. Owen was born 19, 1937 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Harry and Helena (Ahnemann) Obermeyer. He graduated from Kiester High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Westerlund in Bricelyn, MN on 24, 1958. Together, they had 3 children. He farmed with his brother Gus, and lived on the family farm. He enjoyed the animals, the change of seasons and the busyness of the fall harvest. Owen enjoyed visiting with people, traveling to warm places, learning about history, going to A.A. meetings, having coffee in town and mowing his lawn. Owen is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children: Verlie (Wayne) Brandt of Owatonna, MN, and their daughter, Jamie Brandt of Effie, MN, Karen (Timothy) Babb of Mound, MN, and Dean (Alice) Obermeyer of Newnan, GA; siblings: Catherine Olson of Blue Earth, MN and Eugene Gus (Sandy) of Bricelyn, MN; and brother-in-law Lawrence Bucky (Charlie) Westerlund of Eden Prairie. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Wane (Mary Ann); mother and father-in-law: Dutch and Jimmie Westerlund; and brother-in-law John Olson. |

Obituary: Esther Marie Obermeyer, age 90, of Walters, MN, died , 8, 2015 at Parkview in Wells where she had been a resident since of 2008. services will be held , 14, 2015 at United Lutheran Church in Walters at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Don Rose officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30-6:30 PM at Bruss-Heitner in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral on at the church. Interment will be in the United Lutheran in rural Walters. Esther Marie was born 5, 1924, the daughter of Henry and Eda (Martin) Obermeyer near Walters, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Walters. She was a life-long member of that church and later United Lutheran Church of Walters. She lived her entire life in the Walters area. Esther attended the Hintz country school through the 8th grade. Esther worked as a bookkeeper and candled eggs for the Walters Creamery. Later, she worked for Williamsons Soil Service in Walters. Esther was active in many organizations of the church, including teaching school and Confirmation classes, Bible study, ELCW, circles, making quilts and many other activities of the church. She was a member of the Walters Senior Citizens and served on the Faribault Senior Citizens Board. She was also the librarian for the Walters Library for many years. Esther loved to entertain her family and friends and would always provide a delicious meal or tasty treats. This was always followed by a game or two of cards. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to do handiwork of any kind. Esther is survived by her sister-in-law: Della Obermeyer of Albert Lea; 10 nieces and nephews: Mark (Sharon) Obermeyer of Kiester, Carol Mutschler of Bricelyn, Janeen (Gene) Perry of Grand Island, NE, Paul (Rhoda) Obermeyer of Walters, Dorinda Obermeyer of Fairmont, Jolaine (Tim) McMahon of Altus, OK, John (Jessica) Obermeyer of St. Clair, Brenda Blanshan of Albert Lea, Gloria (Mike) Schad of Rochester, and David (Sara) Obermeyer of Walters; 24 great-nieces and nephews; 25 great-great-nieces and nephews; along with many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Palmer in 1998, Martin in 2011, sister-in-law Mattie in 2013, and nephew David Mutschler in 2009. |
