Obituary: Frederick Henry Oberg, 79 of York, ME died peacefully on 16, 2014. Fred was born in Massachusetts on 8, 1935; the son of the late Henry A. W. Oberg and Elizabeth (Castle) Oberg of Quincy, MA. Fred was a 1956 graduate of Boston University and worked as a Manufacturers Representative for over 50 years. He was a former member of the Eastern Yacht Club, the York Harbor Reading Room, and the York Golf and Tennis Club. Fred took up golf late in life and loved every minute spent out on the course. Fred also enjoyed skiing at Sugarloaf with his family and sailing. Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Deborah (Heald) Oberg; their son Eric Sven Oberg and his wife Christie (Goss) Oberg and their children Camden James, Annika Elizabeth, and Libby Anne; their daughter Thayer Elizabeth Wollenberg and her husband Patrick and their children Heidi Ilse and Henrik Stuart. Family and friends are invited to attend a 3:00 PM Memorial Service for Fred on , 20, 2014 at the First Congregational Church of Kittery Point, 23 Pepperell Road, Kittery Point, ME. In lieu of flowers the Oberg family suggests memorial donations be made in Freds memory to the Agamenticus Yacht Club, P.O. Box 534, York Harbor, ME 03911. The monies will help make sailing lessons available to children who might not otherwise be able to participate. |
