Obituary: Barbara Ellen Oakley, 82, passed away on , 11, 2016. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. She retired as a school teacher from Calcasieu Parish School System. She was passionate about keeping Dutch Cove 's records, and upkeep of the cemetery. She was secretary of Oakley Ship Yard for over forty-five years. When her children were young she was active in the 4-H organization. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Oakley; four children, Peggy Bell and husband, Michael of Cypress, TX, Maxine Villegas and husband, Amie of Katy, TX, Daniel Oakley and wife, Babbette of Sulphur, and Dovanna Kibodeaux and husband, Ricky of Sulphur; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Oakley, and her parents, John Herbert and Agnes Peshoff Halverson. services will be 2 p.m. , 13, 2016 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel with the Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Obituary: PHILIPS Sister Mary Colette Philips, O.P., a Dominican Sister of Peace, age 82 years and in her 55th year of religious profession, died on , 26, 2011 at 6:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Wisdom care (New Orleans, LA). Sister was born Ruth Mary Philips on 28, 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Dudley A. Philips, Sr. and Jeanne Guerineau Philips, sister of the late Dudley A. Philips, Jr., Marion P. Larkin, Dan Philips, Sr., Frederick Philips, Harry Philips, Roy Philips, Lee Philips, and Alvin Philips, and survived by nieces and nephews. She entered the Novitiate of the former St. Marys Dominican Sisters in New Orleans, Louisiana, and made her profession of vows on 15, 1957. Sister Mary Colette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, LA) with a major in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science degree from the former St. Marys Dominican (New Orleans) with a major in Education, and a Master of Art from Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, WI) with a major in Special Education. Sister Mary Colette taught in Dominican schools in New Orleans, and other parishes in Louisiana and in the Archdiocesan Special Education School, St. Michael. Over the years she also served in a number of administrative and consultative roles for her former Congregation and ministries. Sister thanked God for her Dominican vocation and the many blessings of her ministries; in particular her Camelot years at St. Coletta in Jefferson, Wisconsin and St. Michael Special School in New Orleans with their mission of serving the child with developmental disabilities and other challenges. The Mass will be celebrated at the DOMINICAN SISTERS OF PEACE MOTHERHOUSE CHAPEL, 580 BROADWAY, NEW ORLEANS, LA on , 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment in the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Rosaryville, Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Obituary: LOUISA HAGEL OSTEEN, AGE 97 FORMERLY OF LAKE PROVIDENCE, LA Cox Lake Providence, LA services for Louisa Hagel OSteen, age 97, formerly of Lake Providence, LA will be 2PM, , 18, 2015, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Lake Providence, La with Father Bill Echols officiating. Interment will be in the New Forest , Forest, LA. Services are under the direction of Cox . Visitation will be from 3PM - 8PM at Cox . She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hardy OSteen; daughter, Grace Louise OSteen Gammill; parents, John and Leota Hagel; two brothers, Lloyd Hagel and Jack Hagel; son-in-law, Joe Wagner; grandson-in-law, Jeff Dennis. Louisa, after receiving her BA Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Oklahoma for Women in Chicasha, Oklahoma. She moved to East Carroll Parish to start teaching in the public school system. She went to Louisiana State University where she received her Master in Education in Baton Rouge. She taught school for 53 years, the last 25 at Briarfield Academy. She taught three generations of students, her heart was always with her students, they were always her children. She loved them all. Louisa is survived by her daughter, Linda Gail OSteen Wagner of Baton Rouge, LA; son and daughter-in-law, Ronza Lee OSteen and Navy OSteen of West Monroe, LA; six grandchildren, Phillip Gammill and wife Kimberly, Tamara Powell and husband Rodney, Paige Dennis, Bran Wagner, Hensley Wagner Creaghan, and Ryan OSteen; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Ruth Hagel Wall, Fay Hagel Ford, and Della Jane Ainsworth; two nephews, John A. Hagel and Ronnie Edmonson. The pallbearers will be friends.
