Obituary: Larry Joe Orchard, 62 of Idaho Falls, died 26 at his home. He was born 20, 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Orchard of Idaho Falls. Larry will be missed by many people he touched over the years. He will be remembered as a brother, friend, uncle and neighbor. His kind and caring personality was acknowledged by those closest to him. He always wanted the best for others and he was always striving to make himself better. He grew up as the first born and blazed a trail for his sister and brother. He challenged his teachers and parents with difficult questions and actions. His willingness to try new things and explore new places in his youth helped him understand later in life the struggles that others have to overcome. One example of his adventurous spirit, which made for many fond memories was when he and his brother had to be rescued after swimming across a fast-flowing Salmon River. While growing up he enjoyed sports not only participating but also coaching. Larry graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1972 where he enjoyed sports and friends. He attended Idaho State University followed by Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School where he studied as an electricians apprentice. His employment included many different positions. He worked for Mountain Bell in various functions. He worked construction in Texas, started his painting business, window washing business and other entrepreneurial activities. His interests later in life included participating in group discussions and activities with Rehabilitation Services, watching baseball, following the activities of his niece and nephew, and traveling. Music was also important in Larrys life. He wrote lyrics and composed music expressing his emotions and thoughts of making the world a better place. He followed his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox, and whatever baseball team his nephew played for over the last 10 years. Larry had a huge heart and was kind to everyone around him. He loved his family deeply, especially his niece and nephew who he spoiled every birthday and holiday. We will miss the trips with Larry to watch baseball and ice skating, the family Christmas times together in Utah, and celebrations with his favorite ice cream. Larry especially enjoyed many summer and fall days at the family cabin in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming. Golfing, playing pinochle, visiting on the deck, enjoying the mountain views and an occasional flag football or pick-up basketball game were his favorite things to do in Star Valley. We want to thank the team at Rehabilitative Services, especially Bruce Lines, LSW, CPRP. For over 30 years, Bruce was a wonderful counselor and mentor to Larry and a true family friend. Larry valued Bruces conversation and advice, and always talked about their weekly outings whether it was going to group sessions or shopping to buy Christmas presents. Larry was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his sister, Dylynn Carlson of Idaho Falls, brother, Tony Orchard (Karen) of Sandy, UT, niece Erin Orchard of Anchorage, AK, and nephew TJ Orchard of Sandy, UT. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 9, 2016 at Buck Miller Hann in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. before the service to greet the family. |

Obituary: Joshua James Olzak, 36, of Idaho Falls, passed away , May 11, 2015. Josh was born Jan. 13, 1979, in Bremerton, Wash., to Rena Taylor and was raised mostly in Idaho Falls with his family. Josh joined Willow Creek Woodworks in 1999 and never missed a day of work. He took pride in the details and was a perfectionist, combining talent with effort until his projects were completed to his self-inflicted standards. To his son, Kayde Olzak, he gifted his sense of humor, his gentle nature and his love of sports. Josh married his friend of 22 years, Gabrielle Olzak, in 2008, and Josh helped deliver their baby girl, Olivia , in 2010. Together, they built their lives with the details and pride Josh insisted on. Josh was a model father. He never missed a doctor's appointment, recital, game or opportunity to guide and play. Josh is remembered as the fixer. Eager to help in the smallest way he could and true to form, not leaving the side of his sister, brother, mother or friend until he knew his job was complete, knowing that he left you in a better place than he found you. And that is all we are remembering; not the tragedies of his death, but how he left us in a better place than he found us. Josh is survived by his wife, Gabrielle Olzak; son, Kayde Olzak; daughter, Olivia Olzak; mother, Rena Taylor; sisters, Rhianna Olzak and Katrina Olzak; brother, Jared Moore; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Mary Kirn; grandfather, Thomas Louk; and many other nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and loved ones. Josh is preceded in death by grandmother, Karen Louk, and sister, Angie Croft. A public service will be held at 2 p.m. , May 19, at the GuestHouse, 850 Lindsay Blvd., Idaho Falls. You can donate to help support the family at www.gofundme.com/u9b4n8. As a final act of selflessness, Josh was an organ donor. By donation of his body so others may continue, he will be saving up to seven lives. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/postregister/obituary.aspx?n=josh-olzak&pid=174856899#sthash.KhTUTzj7.dpuf |
