Obituary: Oaks, Leon, 91, died peacefully at home on 31, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Mitchell. Leon outlived his wife, Miriam Oaks and two sons, Terry and Randy. Leon was an Honorably Discharged United States Marine Corporal and a veteran of WWII, during which he was a 105 Artillery Gunner. He received a Purple Heart for wounds he received after being hit by an enemy mortar on Day 5 of the battle for the island of Iwo Jima in the Pacific. He worked for GTE for over 40 years. services will be held at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, FL on , 5, 2016. A visitation will begin at 9am with the funeral service to follow at 10am.
