Obituary: Joseph Albert Negri, eldest son of Bertha Moeller and Patrick Negri Sr., passed away peacefully in the evening hours at Danbury Hospital on , 21, 2017. Joe, as he was known colloquially by his friends and family, was a life-long resident of Danbury, CT. In his late teens, he served his country in the United States Navy as a gunners mate in World War II aboard the USS 264, a vessel that saw action in the Pacific Theater and supported the marine landing at Iwo Jima. He was later called back to active duty in the Naval Reserve during the Korean War as a munitions expert and arms trainer in San Diego. Joe often shared stories of his war-time experiences and was supremely proud of his military service, for which he received several local and state level commendations. Following his military service, he worked for a number of years at Bard-Parker and then as a laborer and heavy equipment operator for Bedini of Ridgefield, CT, before his tenure as caretaker and groundskeeper on the estates of Robert Tuccio, Sr. and later Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bossidy. In addition to his wife Dale Negri, Joe is survived by a stepson, Lenny Bennett; brothers David Negri Sr. and Robert Negri Sr.; sister-in-law, Barbara Negri; son-in-law Edward Carvalho Sr. and his wife Joyce Carvalho; two grandchildren, Dr. Edward Carvalho and Nicole Hottes and her husband Carl Hottes; great grandchildren Hayley, Savannah and Jonathan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gertrude A. Negri, his daughter, Diane M. Carvalho, his parents, Patrick Negri Sr. and Bertha Moeller; his brother, Patrick Negri Jr., and sister Ellie. Joe was a generous and compassionate human being, a devoted husband, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a good neighbor,and a faithful friend. Never one to speak ill of others, he provided comfort to many with his kindness and his assistance. He will be remembered as a man who always offered his support, unselfishly, to those who needed his help. The family of Joseph A. Negri would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tuccio and Mr. and Mrs.. Larry Bossidy for their care and generosity over these many years. Joe truly loved working for the Tuccios and the Bossidys, in large part because they embraced him not as an employee, but as a member of their family. Family and friends are encouraged to call to the Green , 57 Main Street Danbury, CT on , 25, 2017 for visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Services will be held on , 26, 2017 at Green at 10:00 am, with burial to take place immediately following services at Wooster , Danbury, CT. In lieu of flowers the family asks for any and all donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors foundation or the St. Judes Children Hospital. |
