Obituary: Mary Lou Nott went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2014 surrounded by her family. Mary Lou was born in Eldora, Iowa on May 20, 1928, to Roy and Hazel Ivie. The family moved to Kirksville, Missouri as she liked to refer to as he sticks. then relocated to Yakima, Washington in the 1940s where she attended Highland High School. She was a member of the Glee Club. She fell in love and married Arthur Nott on 25, 1949 and became wife and step mother to little Gary Nott. She gave birth to a daughter, Sandra Faye. In her younger years she worked at Newberries Shepards Camera Shop and the bus depot. She also attended beauty school. She was employed for over 40 years with Roche Fruit Co. where she made many lifelong friends. Family was the light of her life. She especially enjoyed the holidays where she spent many hours baking cookies, candies, you name it, she baked it. She enjoyed her many family trips to Mt. Rainier where they spent time camping. The Nott family also traveled to the Oregon Coast for summer vacations. There were a lot of family gatherings at the Nott residence where everyone got together for dinners. Mary Lou held a special place in her heart for her three sisters, Iva, Laura Jean, and Vernie. She loved gardening, especially her flowers. Every year they were perfect even though she threatened to pull everything out. She also enjoyed crocheting. She was a master at making tablecloths and doilies. She loved listening to country, big band, and swing music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always ready to show her latest picture. Many hours were spent shopping for the perfect gifts. retirement, Mary Lou absolutely loved her lunches at Red Lobster with her dear friends Virgene Sickler, Shirley Marsh, and Sandy Friss. Many hours were spent reading. She also enjoyed watching the Seattle Mariners. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Ivie, her mother, Hazel Ivie, her sister, Iva (Tony) Forbes, her loving husband Arthur Art Nott, and her step son Gary Nott. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (David) Olson, her grandson, Jeremy Colter, her granddaughter Amber (Frankie) Olivas, her great grandson, Frankie Olivas Jr., her great granddaughter, Alexa Olivas, two sisters, Laura Jean (Don) Holzheimer and Vernie (Duwayne) Lemke, also her dear friend of over 70 years, Virgene (Jack) Sickler, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heritage Court and Providence Hospice in Everett for their care and compassion for Mary Lou. The family suggest that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association in memory of Mary Lou. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am with a funeral service starting at 1:00 pm , 5, 2014 at Rainier Memorial (2807 Terrace Heights Drive). Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
