Obituary: Obituary composed by Marilyn Northcott On , 18, 2014 God summoned Marilyn M. Northcott to her heavenly home. She was born on May 23, 1929 to Walt and Stella Siems in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Her education began in a one room schoolhouse in Graceton, MN. Her family then moved to Williams, MN when she was in the fourth grade. She graduated from H. S. in 1946 and attended Stephens for Women in Columbia, Missouri. She was accepted into the honor society-Alpha Pi Epsilon and graduated in 1948. She worked in her fathers bank for a year before moving to Oakland, CA. She and another Stephens classmate shared an apartment-Marilyn got a job as a savings department teller in a large bank in Oakland-was promoted to a commercial teller and finally the head teller before be coming a stewardess for American Airlines for 1 ½ years. She was domiciled in Fort Worth, TX, then San Francisco, then in Los Angeles, CA. She married Jack Moore in Nov 1953-they had a daughter, Debra, on 28, 1954. were divorced 2 years later and Marilyn returned to Oakland and worked in the same bank as before-only this time as one of the banks own examiners-that would conduct surprise audits on the various departments within the bank plus many companies outside the bank. She was then hired by American Airlines as a sales rep in the city ticket office of Oakland. That was when she met Jack Northcott, who was a navy pilot and as Marilyn always said-he was her dashing naval aviator. were married in the Naches Presbyterian church on 16, 1957. lived in Boise, Idaho because Jack left the navy and began flying commercially for West Coast airlines. moved to Renton, WA in 1963, then to Bellevue in-they then bought a ranch in Cowiche, WA in 1980 and lived there for 28 years before moving into Englewood Heights Senior Living Village on 31, 2008. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Jack Northcott. Marilyn is survived by her brother Robert Siems of Bemidji, MN; daughter Debbie (Steve) Dyk of Dallas, TX; Granddaughter Carrie Cavanaugh and great grandchildren Job, Anna, and Paul, all of Houston, TX; grandson Dave (Heidi) Dyk and great-grandchildren Jonah and Esther, all of Gresham, OR. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joni and Friends in Marilyns name, care of Keith & Keith , 902 W. Yakima Avenue, Yakima, WA 98902. Obituary: Jack Dean Northcott, 82, of Yakima, passed away , 19th. Jack was born in Yakima on 31, 1930 to Donald R. and Priscilla D. Northcott. He attended school in Yakima until his sophomore year. At that time his father went to work for the Naches Forest Service and Jack went to Naches High School, graduating in 1948. Jack then attended Washington State and worked four summers as a forest service guard. Though he didn graduate from college he had enough credits to be accepted by the Naval Aviation Cadet Program. He won his Wings of Gold in 1952. He spent 5 years flying many types of airplanes, ending his Navy career instructing in the P5M2 Seaplanes. He then went to work for West Coast Airlines in 1957, and he married the love of his life Marilyn M. Siems. He flew 25 years with the airlines, totaling a little over 28,000 Navy and airline hours. West Coast Airlines merged with Bonanza and Pacific, becoming Hughes Airwest. Later, Republic bought Hughes Airwest, and then Northwest bought Republic. Jack retired from Northwest Airlines. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses. He and Marilyn raised appaloosas and buckskins. At one time they had a matched pair of buckskins that frequently won them first place and blue ribbons whenever ridden in parades. Jack placed his faith in Christ, trusting in His death on his behalf, that he might have eternal life. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Northcott; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Steven Dyk; granddaughter Carrie Cavanaugh, her husband Mike, and son Job; grandson Dave Dyk, his wife Heidi, and children Jonah and Esther; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra Northcott; their sons Mark and Justin Northcott; and their respective families. There will be a viewing available on , 28, from 4-8 p.m. at Keith & Keith , and a memorial service at Naches Presbyterian Church on , 29 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Pegasus Project. Obituary: Raymond Lloyd North Raymond North passed away suddenly on 29, 2015, at the age of 65. Raymond was born 2, 1949. He grew up on an orchard in Medford, Oregon, riding horses and living the farm life. He attended Reed in Portland, Oregon, and the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Raymond gave his seemingly limitless energy and enthusiasm for several years to working in social services including migrant education and mental health. The longer he lived in the Puget Sound area the more he was drawn to the water. He completed the Marine Technology Program at Seattle Central Community , ultimately achieving his Merchant Marine Mates license. He joined the Washington State Ferry System in 1982, and worked up and down the Sound until his retirement in 2010. Raymond thrived on the challenges of seamanship and the diverse ferry system family. We remember a loving soul who left a trail of beautiful memories. His quirky charm, his generosity, his colorful personality and unique sense of humor. Who can forget his wriggling of his double-jointed fingers to the horrified delight of onlookers. His raspy laugh? His love for his wife Caroline? Or his unending affection for his dogs who in turn adored him and followed him on foot or with love in their eyes wherever he went? We remember Raymond at Goat Island, resplendent in his Handoflage, the boat covered with hand prints painted in camouflage paint. Overloaded with other peoples belongings, it was an unforgettable sight. Upon landing, first the dog, then the passengers, the baggage, tents, and food next, and then Skipper Raymond waded ashore. He was the Pigmeister at Maltby, organizing the digging of the pit and burial of the pig for the annual Pig Roast. He was the creative artist behind the Spirit Totem, and each year made hangings and decorations for this most delightful of parties. Raymond brought flowers from his bountiful garden to every hostess of every event. In the days of his girls, he would bring eggs with big orange yolks and great bags of vegetables, including green beans which his dog Eena liked to eat fresh off the vine. We see Raymond, a Universal Life Minister, officiating at weddings.even in Mexico. Taking this role to heart he blended seriousness with warmth and lightheartedness on these ceremonial occasions. A gleaner of crabs and shellfish. An avid fisherman. A devoted hunter who joined friends in stalking deer and ducks. A smoker of cigars who liked to wear a cowboy hat. A surprising gourmet who made a mean chili and loved chocolate truffles. A giver of gifts both in person and anonymously. Someone who dealt with many challenges to his health, but who didn always take it seriously. A good friend. Uncompromising, generous, compassionate. He is gone now, but in the trail of memories he leaves behind, we will forever find him in our smiles and hearts. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Hattie Pauline and Merle North. He is survived by his wife Caroline, sister Marjory, and his devoted canine companion of the last 3 years Lucy. Raymond is also survived by his nephews Mathew, Joe, Stuart and Skyler, a niece Rachel, and his godson Jeff. Enriching his life even further were his neighborhood young friends Patrick and Nigel. All gave him great joy. Raymond will also be missed by his dear friends who were close in spirit and enjoyed multiple adventures and traditions. A gathering in his memory will be held 17, 2015, from 1-4 pm at his home 21931 Locust Place; Lynnwood, WA 98036. In lieu of flowers please give a gift to your favorite charity. |
