Obituary: BETTY BARBARA NOPP (RICHARDSON), 91:

Born on 8, 1923 to Beatrice Wilson (Clark) and Harry Ezra Richardson in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, our dear mother passed away in her sleep with family surrounding her, on May 31, 2014, and has returned to be with her Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel Peter Nopp, oldest son David Allen Nopp, grandson David Christopher Nopp, and brother Howard Raymond Richardson.

In her 91 years, mom lived a very full life. She moved across country with her parents more than 70 years ago to Whidbey Island and had many fond memories of their time there. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1941. She completed Business shortly after. She worked at many jobs over the years beginning with the Chamber of Commerce, and then the Naval Supply during the first part of WWII. Then she married Daniel Peter Nopp (who had impressed her with his dancing skills at Pearl Marrs Dance Pavillion) on Nov 11, 1942. Over the years they lived in Lake Bay, Central Valley, Bremerton, and Port Townsend, Washington. Then bought and operated a dairy in North Bend, Oregon. Upon their return to Bremerton mom went to work at Harrison Memorial Hospital Central Supply, then moved to Port Townsends Jefferson Hospital, then to Naval Hospital Bremerton, and finally the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (both in the Planning Dept. and Human Resource Office).

Mom had many other things she loved to do throughout the years, including traveling and camping with dad, as well as square dancing, they had been members of the Round Squares and Sashay Clubs. She also grew a large garden of Dahlias for years, and painted ceramics. She won ribbons at the Kitsap Fair for each of these. She also grew vegetable gardens from which she canned the produce. In her later etired years she kept at it and loved raising many types of flowering plants. Over the years she involved herself in many crafts such as quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and painting shirts, and gave many special items to family members. She also loved birds and greatly missed her parrot which would talk to her and she fed by hand. In addition she was an avid reader and loved word puzzles and playing cards. She also found time some years to volunteer as an assistant 4-H leader and various PTAs, as well as working on an Intervention Hotline for Troubled Youth in Kitsap . In her later years she became a staunch Mariners Fan.

Mom is survived by children Barbara, Ed, Don (Debra), Nancy Thompson (Fred), Linda (Knox) (son Davids widow), all of Bremerton; Nicholas (Beverly) of Texas; and Timothy (Sue) of California. Besides her 6 surviving children; also surviving are her sister Regina Stuart (Charles) of Arkansas; her brother Rays widow Inger, of Redmond; 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends.

In one of her last lucid moments, mom said this to her family, We all just seemed to fit together, we were meant for each other. I love you all. Thank you for being such a good family. Thank YOU mom, for being such a loving mom, grandma, sister and aunt; for being there and for all you did for each of us, and for being such a good example.

A special thank you to moms doctors and nurses at the Doctors Clinic (especially Dr. Reichley and Nurse Jill), and her Eye MD Dr. Rico and staff. She really appreciated all your efforts to communicate with her and the respect you gave her. Also thank you to the Harrison Memorial Hospital staff, and the staff at Hospice of Kitsap , Fred Lowthian Inpatient .

Services will be held at Miller-Woodlawn, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton WA on 07, 2014. In lieu of cut flowers, donations to your favorite charity, or to one of these are suggested: Brain Cancer Research organizations and their affiliates including U.W. Medical , Cedar-Sinai Medical , and Duke University of North Carolina; Childrens Hospital in Seattle; The Fred Lowthian Inpatient (Hospice of Kitsap ); or the Humane Society of Kitsap .
