Obituary: Vila Hannaford Narozonick 1,1929 - 4,2016 Vila was born in Roseburg, Oregon to Delilah and Loren Hannaford. There she joined older sister Callie until they moved to Tenino a few years later. She passed away peacefully on 4 with those she held dear at her side. Vila began school in Tenino at age 4. Due to depression era work opportunities the family moved to Olympia several years later. When Vila was 11 her father died suddenly. She found that the joy of ice skating at the local arena brought healing from his death. She washed pots and pans in the kitchen at the old St. Peter's Hospital and babysat to support what was to become the beginning of her professional ice skating career. Leaving home as a young teen, she lived with an aunt and uncle in California. During this time she anxiously waited for and received an acceptance letter for the Dot Freney's Ice Time Review in Dallas, Texas at the Adolphis Hotel. Her dream came true! She then had an opportunity to teach ice skating at the Laurel-in-the-Pines Hotel in Lakewood, NJ. While practicing her skating skills on the frozen lake, she was trying to impress a handsome, young hockey player. When she fell and he laughed, true love blossomed. She married that man- George Narozonick shortly after at St. Michael Catholic Church in Olympia almost 70 years ago. George and Vila established Capitol Floor Covering and Interiors in Tumwater in 1959. Vila earned a degree from the Chicago School of Design. Besides making a beautiful home, she shared her skills with family, friends, and students at SPCC and model homes. Vila was a lifetime member of St. Michael Parish where she was active in Legion of Mary, St. Vincent DePaul and bible study. Her involvement in Genealogy was an exciting hobby for her. She was a talented writer, writing her autobiography 's Child. An exhilarating experience for her was an "authentic" air combat mission over Puget Sound. Vila and George were blessed to be able to travel the world. Their favorite destination was traveling to Maui. Vila is survived by daughters Linda Thompson (David) and Barbara Narozonick (Dan Neuhauser), sister Caroline "Callie" McCuiston Mooseker, grandchildren Lisa Nielson Henry (Chris), Anthony Nielson (Kristina), Tyson Nielson, Seth Thompson and Jin Thompson; nephews Don "Mike" Mccuiston (Julie) and Jim Mccuiston (Terri) and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by special friends, Dene Hartman, Louise Lee, and Shari and Gene Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband George Narozonick one year ago. Mass will be held at St. Michael Parish at noon on , 12. Rosary will occur at 11:15 prior to the Mass. Following Mass there will be a reception in the gathering place at the church. Internment will follow at Mill and Mills Memorial Park, Littlerock Road, Tumwater. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Hospice and Visiting Angels for their sweet and tender care for our mom. |

Obituary: George Joseph Narozonick 16, 1925 - 1, 2015 George was born in Manalapan, NJ to Stanley Peter and Alexandria Rose Dzielak Narozonick. He was the youngest of 10 children, who all preceded him in death (Antionette, Madeline, Mary, Amelia, Jenny, Leonard, Francis, Joan and Dick). graduation, he enlisted in the Navy, serving our country honorably during WWII. He was entitled to wear American Area Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Area Campaign Medal, participated in operations of assault force and build up LST's in invasion for European Continent, entitled to wear insignia for Amphibious Force, participated in operations of assault force and build up LST's in invasion of Southern France (LST 501 and LST 1087). Many years later, during the 65th anniversary of the Normandy landing, he was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his participation of this D-Day event. returning to New Jersey after the war, he met Vila Hannaford, a professional figure skater. were married at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Olympia, 10, 1947, where they have been lifelong active members. Several months after marrying, they decided to move back to New Jersey, and he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Daughters, Linda and Barbara, were born there. Feeling a sense of entrepreneurship, they moved out west to Olympia, Washington in 1951. working at a grocery store, liquor store, lumber mills in Shelton and Olympia and a floor covering store, they opened Capitol Floors and Interiors in 1959. several years of success, they sold that business and embarked on commercial property development, primarily Narozonick Square, where they opened/operated Pot Pourri Deli. George never knew a stranger and found great satisfaction in community activities and service. He was a past president of Rotary, member of Olympia Yacht Club, Elks, VFW, American Legion, Polish Society, Navy League of the United States, LST Organization, and Veterans Memorial Museum. He loved playing golf, raquet ball, riding his bicycle, and walking, and way back in the day was convinced, somewhat reluctantly by his daughters, to join Mountaineers. His business legacy was being known for his honesty and fairness. We learned from him to "always leave something for the next guy" and always, always pay employees/vendors on time. His personal legacy was being a man of unwavering faith, integrity, giving wise counsel, his absolute love of family, quietly showing acts of kindness, his strong patriotism to his country, and his simple delight in welcoming each amazing day. He is survived by his wife, Vila; daughters, Linda Marie Thompson (David) and Barbara Ann Narozonick (Dan Neuhauser; grandchildren, Scott Alan Neuhauser, Lisa Ann Nielson Henry, Anthony George Nielson, Tyson Christopher Nielson, Seth Joseph Thompson and Jin Joy Thompson; many precious great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
