Obituary: John Wayne Nelson, 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Spanish Fork. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and friend. We will miss him greatly, but our hearts are filled with a sweet, peaceful spirit knowing we will be with him again. Wayne was born 22, 1934 to G. Frank and Eliza Money Nelson in Spanish Fork, Utah. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Grotegut, in 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. raised their four children in Spanish Fork surrounded by wonderful family and friends. Wayne graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1952 and went on to attend Brigham Young University. He graduated from BYU in 1956 with a BS degree in education. He then attended graduate courses at University of Oregon, BYU and Utah State. He received a Masters degree from BYU in 1963 and a Doctorate degree in education in 1972. Wayne was a true leader. He worked for Nebo School District for thirty-four years as a teacher, principal and district level administrator. He served as Superintendent of Nebo School District for twelve years before his retirement. He was also a proud member of the Utah National Guard for forty two years. He served in various leadership positions in the guard ending with his full time service as State Command Sergeant Major. Wayne Gurn loved serving his country. Wayne loved serving his church and community. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various leadership positions including Scout Master and Elders Quorum President. He loved his current calling where he taught the temple readiness class. He and Gloria have helped numerous people receive the blessings of the temple. He served on various community organizations such as the Jaycees, Spanish Fork Livestock Committee, and was a current member of the Kiwanis Club. He was the recipient of Spanish Fork High Distinguished Alumni Award. He never quit serving his family and friends, building and remodeling homes, working in his garden which he shared with everyone, or helping with any project. Hard work and service was a way of life for him. Wayne loved supporting Spanish Fork High School Baseball. He spent numerous hours watching his sons play and later watching them coach. He loved being at the ballpark and will be greatly missed there. He loved supporting his grandchildren in everything they do. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Gloria, his children; Jim Shoe (Pat), Richard (Allison), Sandra Jarvis (Matt), and Jeff Whites ( Cindy); and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Mark (Deloris) Nelson and his sister Ruth Leifson and sisters in law Jane B. Nelson and Lenore Nelson. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank and Bill and his brother in law Ted Leifson. services will be held , 5, 2008 at 11:00 am at the West Stake at 360 N. 650 W., Spanish Fork. A viewing will be held evening, 4th from 6-8 pm at Walker Mortuary and morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 am prior to services. Interment will be held in the Spanish Fork City with military rites. In lieu of flowers please donate to The Nebo School District Foundation Scholarship Fund in the name of J. Wayne Nelson. |

Obituary: Jean Henrietta Syndergaard Nelson, 80, of Provo peacefully passed away on 3, 2006. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah to John Henry Syndergaard and Lottie Seeley on 2, 1926. She attended Mount Pleasant Schools and Wasatch Academy. Jean married her sweetheart, William James Nelson on 17, 1943 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was a dedicated, loving mother to three sons and four daughters. She worked for the Provo School District in the school lunch program. Jean enjoyed her association with the Square Dance Club and loved square dancing, travel, karate, gem and mineral collecting, and sunsets. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jean is survived by her children, Billie Jean (Larry) Calder, Roberts, ID; Patricia (Ron) Burr, Beaver, UT; William J. (Michelle), Aurora, CO; Louise (Randy) Parry, Mapleton, UT; John (Rose), Ukiah, CA; Debra (Mike) Adams, Orem, UT; and David (Angela), Provo, UT. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings, William, Molen, Frank, Lois, Louise, and Harold, and two granddaughters, Meleena and Kim Parry. Services will be held on , 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at theWalker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah. Obituary: Janet Abbott Nelson, 1945-2009. Our sweet and loving mother and grandmother, Janet Abbott Nelson, returned to her Father in Heaven on , 2, 2009, at the age of 63. She was born on 30, 1945 in Payson, Utah, to Medford Abbott and Kathryn White. She enjoyed her time growing up in Payson with her four sisters and brother. She was married to Brent L. Davis and Steven A. Nelson. Janet and Brent brought into the world three sons, Jeffery, Bryon, and Michael. Janet and Steven brought into this world, a son, Brandon. Janet and Steven raised their four children in Spanish Fork, where they made many fond memories. Janets greatest joy in life was her family. She loved family outings, track and field, competitive sports, music, dancing, caring for others, raising her boys, loving on her grandchildren, shopping for bargains, time with friends, cooking, and sewing. She was a very strong willed and independent woman with a wonderful personality; possessing dignity, grace, flawless beauty, and a special loving touch. She lived for her family. Janet devoted her life to raising her children, ensuring she raised them to be gentlemen and productive members of society. She invested countless hours into her home, beautifying her landscape with numerous improvement projects and keeping the interior spotless. Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling various callings throughout her life. Janet will be missed in the community, especially her warm smile and laughter. She is survived by her three children, Jeffery L. Nelson, Payson, UT; Bryon D. Nelson, San Antonio, TX; Brandon S. Nelson, Layton, UT; and 13 grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her sisters, Lucille (Bert) Argyle; Joy (Bill) Abbott Orr; Judy (John) Romero; and a brother, Kenneth (Margine) Abbott. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael J.
