Obituary: NISTAL Louis E. Nistal, age 87, of San Antonio, died , 11, 2013. Louis was born in New York City, New York on 12, 1925. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. Louis was married in New York City on May 31, 1959; the happy couple then moved and lived in Mexico City from 1959 to 1984. He represented various publishing companies in the US, Mexico and Latin America. He also owned a rare bookstore while living in Mexico City. Louis was very supportive of his family, children and very generous with everyone he met throughout his life. Obituary: M. Modine Boyce Nissen, age 91 of San Antonio, died , 26, 2006. She was born the second daughter of George W. Boyce and Belle M. McAllister Boyce of Abilene, Kansas. Both parents and two sisters, Ceycle L. Boyce Miller and Evalyn Boyce Vetter preceded her in death. She attended grade school in Dickinson and high school in Kensington, KS. Modine worked for the U.S. Department of the Army, at Smokey Hill Army Air Field Base Exchange. It was there she met Lieutenant Jim C. Nissen during May, 1946. were married in Seattle in 1947 in the University Methodist Church. Modine is a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile at Spokane, WA. She and Jim shared many memories of assignments in Morocco, Omaha, NE, Paris, France, Stuttgart and Ramstein, Germany, Montgomery, AL and Washington, D.C. retired to San Diego, CA in 1971, but moved to Union, WA for 13 years, enjoying boating, golfing and gardening. The Sunbelt drew them to Hemet, CA for five years, but they returned to Lakeland Village, Allyn, WA until their entrance into Air Force Village II in 1993. |

Obituary: Jim C. Nissen, age 88, passed away on , 4, 2011. He was born on 8, 1922 in Tacoma, Washington and attended McKinley Grade School, Gault Intermediate School and Lincoln High School. He moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and worked at Boeing until he entered the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He served with the US Army Air Corps and the USAF from 1944 to 1971 with duties as a Flight Engineer, Pilot and Operations and Material Staff Officer. He flew B-29s during the Korean War and retired with the grade of Colonel in the US Air Force on 31, 1971 while serving with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. On 10, 1947 he married the former Modine Boyce in Seattle, Washington after a courtship which began while stationed at Smokey Hill Army Airfield, Salina, Kansas. Duty stations around the world included McChord AFB from 1960 to 1962 where he piloted KC-135 tanker aircraft and served as a Flight Commander. He was a certified electronic technician and operated the radio and television repair business with J & M Electronics for six years at Union, Washington. Active in Ham Radio, he operated amateur Radio Station KD7YY in Union and KG6NL in Hemet, California as well as, Allyn, Washington. His accomplishments in community services were recognized by the Sierra Dawn Emergency disaster Group and the city Council of Hemet, California as well as the American radio Relay League of Newington, Connecticut. Jim was a 32º Mason, a Shriner and a member of Charleston Lodge No. 269 A.F. & A.M. in Bremerton. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Modine Boyce Nissen.
