Obituary: Alejandra Alex Nichols was called by the Lord to heaven on 1, 2011 in San Antonio, TX surrounded by her loved ones. She was the first born to Indalecio and Catarina De La Peña on May 3, 1930 in Devine, TX. Alejandra enjoyed life to the fullest; her message during her last months was Âenjoy life because life is too shortÂ. Alejandra was very creative and loved decorating her home to make it look warm and inviting. She loved to cook and entertain. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She taught 3rth grade at St. Joseph Catholic School South San, San Antonio, then moved to Victoria, TX where she worked in sales with Walgreens for 29 years. In Victoria she met her husband Nick. both retired and moved to Weston, CO where they built their dream home up in the mountains. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Diane Catherine Oviedo, her husband Nicholas Nichols, brothers Benito, Donato and Lucio De La Peña. Alejandra is survived by her granddaughter Dinah Catherine Oviedo, Carlos Pinelo, grandson Darcy Lee Oviedo, sibling Olivia De La Peña, Maria Teresa Espinoza, husband Eugenio, Santos De La Peña, Indalecio De La Peña III, wife Pauline, Richard De La Peña, wife Lida. Great granddaughters Alexa Graciela Catherine Reyes, Mia Olivia Reyes, Hailee Melanie Pinelo. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and her loving pet Sugar. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vitas Hospice and Inpatient Hospice staff at Morningside Manor, Father Michael Fitzgibbon with Vitas Hospice who on her last year here on earth walked her to her eternal home in heaven. Obituary: The Rev. Norman G. Nicholls, age 80, entered into the larger life on 15, 2009. He was born 22, 1928, in Butte, Montana, to the late Elmer and Florence Nicholls. 27 years of serving his country with the U.S. Air Force, he retired in 1973. He proudly reached the rank of Lt. Col. and served in Vietnam. In 1976, he graduated from Nashotah House Theological Seminary. Father Nicholls retired from active ministry after 27 years of service to congregations in Colorado, Western Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. An inspiration for many, The Rev. Nicholls will truly be missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn L. Nicholls. The Rev. Nicholls is survived by his children, Sue Ellen Smith and husband, Robert, Sally Lynne Lambert and husband, Paul, Norma Lee Cody and husband, Bill and John J.P. Nicholls and wife, Lori; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Tarrant. Interment will follow in St. George Episcopal Columbarium at a later date. Obituary: Marilyn Lee Nicholls, passed away on 4, 2003, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on 21, 1931 to Leonard and Alice Manson of Peoria, Illinois. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church Altar Guild, ECW member, officer, Church Schoolteacher during her husbandÂs military service of 25 years, and his church ministry of 27 years. Marilyn was active in the Air Force Wives Clubs and their philanthropic programs. Over the years, she was Girl Scout Leader Trainer, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a substitute teacher, a hospital volunteer, a licensed practical nurse and a literacy council volunteer. She was an active member of the P.E.O. club CM during her stay in Altus, Oklahoma, and continued to be a member until her death. She had a special talent as a quilter and other handwork as can be attested to by her many gifts of quilts to family members. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling; and a wonderful wife and mother who wanted the best for her children. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She will be deeply missed by all of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, the Rev. Norman G. Nicholls; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Ellen and Dr. Robert Smith, Sally Lynne and the Rev. Canon Paul Lambert, Norma Lee and Major William Cody; and son, John James Patrick Nicholls. She is also survived by two sisters, Joanne and Phyllis; brother, Robert; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. At her request, there will be no visitation. Obituary: LUCILE KINDER NICHOLLS 1911-2011 a long, successful life, filled with love and laughter, Lucile Kinder Nicholls died on 5, 2011 at the age of 99. She was born on 25, 1911 in Taft, Texas to Elsa Treptow and Albert E. Kinder and spent her early years in Bishop, Texas, where her father was a banker. In 1919, her fatherÂs job took the family to Tampico, Mexico where they lived for 10 years. Her formative years growing up in Mexico provided a life-long love of Mexico, its people, language and culture. Stories of her childhood years in Mexico abounded, and were told and re-told to children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. During her high school years, she lived with relatives in Taft, Texas and graduated from Taft High School in 1928. Upon returning to the US, the family moved to San Antonio, and Lucile attended San Antonio , located in the old German School in downtown San Antonio. working for several years at the Magnolia Petroleum , she married Andrew Andy Nicholls in 1937, living in Medina, Texas, where Andy taught school. returned to San Antonio in 1940 and Andy began a long teaching and coaching career at Alamo Heights Junior High School. For many years, Lucile was a marvelous homemaker and seamstress, raising two daughters, and participating in clubs and church activities. In 1960 she returned to college and graduated from SWTSC now Texas State University magna cum laude. She began a 20 year teaching career in Edgewood ISD at Loma Park Elementary School and was among the first bi-lingual certified teachers in Texas. retirement in 1981, she and Andy traveled the world extensively, swam in their pool, and constantly entertained family and friends. There was always a party or gathering taking place at the Nicholls house! AndyÂs death in 1992, Lucile continued many volunteer activities, including serving as a docent at the Steves stead Museum in the King William neighborhood. In 2000 she moved to the Forum at Lincoln Heights, where she resided until her death. Lucile and Andy joined the First Congregational Church now Bethany Congregational Church in 1935 and she remained an active member until her health began to fail. She was a long-time member of the San Antonio Conservation Society and was active in many local clubs. Lucile will be remembered by her many friends and family for her joy in life, her superb intelligence, her keen interest in all the world has to offer, her unfailing kindness to everyone, her unique sense of style, and her inclusiveness of many diverse people in her life. She taught her family and friends how to live well, to love reading and learning, to appreciate beauty in all things great and small. and to love all people. She now joins the saints in heaven and those loved ones who have gone before her. Lucile is survived by her daughters Sue Nicholls Sandlin and Sheila Nicholls Winget Murray; her sons-in-law Joe W. Sandlin, Sr. and James C. Murray; grandchildren Carol Sandlin Anderson Ricky, Joe W. Sandlin, Jr. Bernadette and Amy NIcholls Sandlin Diana Salvucci; great grandchildren Luke Sandlin Anderson Tasa, Katie Anderson Fite Keres, Jaclyn Anderson, Roslyn Sandlin, and Rachel Sandlin; God children Rosalind Casey, Marian Casey; and her great-great grandchildren Hannah Lucile Anderson, Ella Clare Anderson, Jake Anderson, Ava True Fite and George Keres Fite. In addition Lucile will be remembered by nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of loving friends. Burial will be on , 11, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. A Memorial Service will be on , 11, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1011 McCullough, San Antonio, Texas. Obituary: Warren (Nick) Nicholas, born on 4, 1921 and passed away suddenly on 24, 2015 at the age of 93 in Austin, Texas. He was born to Carroll and Julia Nicholas in St. James Parish, Louisiana. Nick entered the U. S. Air Force at the age of 21. During his time in service, Nick served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The Air Force was his life. Nick was dedicated to serving his country and was always ready to enlighten you on his travels abroad. Nick retired after 21 years, 11 months and 28 days (his exact words). his military service, Nick worked at the U. S. Postal Service and retired on 1, 1989 after 22 years. Nick and Ellas Raye Jones were married for 63 wonderful years. have three beautiful, precious daughters: Marian Lopez, Evangaline Nicholas, Ateja Dukes, and loving son-in-law, Benjamin Dukes, Jr. Grandchildren include Angelo Lopez III, Warren Joseph Dukes and Gesele Celeste Cruz. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Russell Nicholas, Earl Nicholas, Harry Nicholas and Carroll Nicholas, Jr. and sister: Eloise Sims. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Herman Nicholas (Lois) and sisters Edna Mathieu (Roy Sr.) and Lucille Alexis (Lawrence). Nick was blessed with having 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, his caring niece Roxyie Winston, lovely God-daughter Selena Edelen and God-son Chris Clack. |
