Obituary: Thomas Baker Nelson, age 42, passed away on 24, 2015. Tom was a graduate of St. Pius X and Incarnate Word Academy and attended Texas A&M. He was employed by Flint Hills. Tom loved spending time with his children, watching Nascar, Chelsea Soccer, and Texas A&M football. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Herbert Nelson. Tom is survived by his mother, Annette Harrington Nelson; daughters, Holley Renee, Erin May; son, Ford Lee Baker Nelson and their mother, Julia West Nelson; sister, Kimberly (Philip) Barker; niece, Kathryn May Barker; nephew, Luke Wade Barker; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on , 28, 2015 at Seaside Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Obituary: Thomas E. Nelson, 85, of Lubbock passed away on 12, 2014. A visitation will be held at Resthaven on 15, 2014 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm. A Graveside Service will be held on 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Resthaven Memorial Park. He was born on 8, 1928 in Lubbock to the late W.H and Ethel (Blair) Nelson. He graduated from Lubbock High School. He served in The United States Army. He also was a plant operator in the Natural Gas Industry. He enjoyed the simple things of life and liked to tinker around the house. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was also a member of the Coffee Pot Crew. He married the love of his life Wanda Faye Lester in Spur, Texas on 24, 1954. moved to Midland in 1958 and lived there four years. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Faye Nelson; and his son, Thomas E. Nelson, Jr. He is survived by his children, Tim and wife Melanie Nelson of Levelland, Tammy and husband Art Ramsey of Alpine; sisters Peggy and husband Barry Boyd of Lubbock, and Freddie Buchanan of Abilene; 3 grandsons; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and was excitedly anticipating the birth of a new great-grandson; sister-in-law Dorothy Roberts; Aunt Effie Lee Ross; nieces and nephews and a host of the relatives and friends. Obituary: FORT WORTH -- Thomas Leighton Nelson passed into eternal life , 24, 2010. Memorial service: 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, 3900 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76103; or Happy Hill Farm, 3846 N. Highway 144, Granbury, Texas 76046. He was born 20, 1926, in Daphne, Ala., to Thomas Jefferson Nelson and Lucy Jacobsen Nelson. He was a member of Meadowbrook UMC and the Upper Room Class for 55 years. Tom was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended Springhill , Mobile, Ala., and UTA. He retired after serving 37 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a hydraulic engineer. He was a member of the Fort Worth Audubon Society, American Birding Association, North Texas Woodcarvers Guild, Woodturners of North Texas, was a former troop leader of Boy Scout Troop 512, and was an instructor in the senior program of Tarrant . He was preceded in death by wife, Minnie; son, Thomas Donald "Tad"; brother, George; sister, Shirley Thomas; and his parents. In 1974 he married Helen and they traveled extensively in their VW camper, birding and hiking after retirement and traveling to Alaska, the Maritime Provinces, all 48 states and most of Canada. Tom was an expert woodcarver and turner and in recent years specialized in birds, and had a myriad of wonderful friends in the carving and birding community. He was also a longtime member of Gulls, a local senior birding group. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Alan Davenport, Dr. Nobel Ezukamna and Dr. Claudio Lehmann for their care the last year and to Vitas Hospice for their loving care during the last days. Obituary: Susan Kay (Moser) Nelson, 59, of Forney, Texas Born on 9th, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas and died at age 59 on 10, 2014. Susan is survived by her husband of 36 years, Robert George Nelson, two sons and a daughter-in-law Michael & Lacey Nelson and Jonathan Nelson along with three sisters and their husbands, Charlene & Ray Martin, Janice & Jakie Henson and Anita & Bob Hartmann, in-laws Pete & Joann Nelson, brother-in-law Ric Nelson, numerous nieces and nephews and three grandnieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dolores Moser. Beloved by all who knew her, Susan led a life of graceful service to others and brightened every day with a constant smile. She grew up as the 2nd of four daughters on the west side of Fort Worth. graduating from Arlington Heights High School, Susan attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where she met her husband, Robert. As a little sister to Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Susan served as Sweetheart for two years. She was also an active member of Phi Chi Theta business Fraternity. Susan earned a BBA in Finance and began her banking career with Fredonia State Bank in Nacogdoches. Robert & Susan eventually moved to Houston where she became a Commercial Real Estate officer with Texas Commerce Bank. a few years, the family returned to the DFW area and settled in Forney, Texas. As her children grew, Susan began volunteering at their schools and became passionate for serving the educational needs of children. She obtained Elementary Education Certification from East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce) and a certificate in Library Science from the University of North Texas. She was the librarian at Forney Primary School and eventually multiple Forney ISD elementary school campuses. Susans position grew throughout the years as she opened several new libraries, served as Forney ISD Elementary Library Coordinator, and was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2002. Susan was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockwall where she enjoyed attending Bible Study on evenings and participating in Work Days of Service. As an active member of the former Forney Womens Organization, Susan held various officer positions and helped establish Forneys first public library. Susan was a friend to everyone and truly lived a selfless life focused on others. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed the many annual family gatherings she hosted and attended, as well as the many Nelson family trips throughout the years. Susans sister trips with her three sisters was also an annual highlight as well as trips to Mexico with Robert and friends. Through her unwavering faith and strength, Susan battled and beat lymphoma over the last 2 years. She had been in remission after a successful stem cell transplant for 6 months and touched the lives of her caregivers as they cared for her. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UT M.D. Anderson Cancer at gifts.mdanderson.org. Please specify stem cell transplantation or lymphoma programs. Service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 AM, , 15 at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 East Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall, Texas 75087 with Dr. Joe Pool officiating.
