Obituary: Gertrude Jackson Nys, formerly of Venice, Florida died 9/18/15. She was 100. Mrs. Nys was born in Newark, N.J. to Mabel and Lawrence Waters. She was raised in South Belmar, N.J. The family moved back to Newark and she attended St. Josephs Grammar School and Commercial High School. In 1937 she married John Jackson. lived in West Orange, N.J. for 20 years and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, West Orange. She retired as secretary from Degan Real Estate in West Orange. In 1969 they moved to Toms River, N.J. and in 1981 moved to Venice, Florida. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of Venice East Community, a member of Venice East Golf Association, and a member of the 18 Hole Ladies League, and Mixed Couples League. She was preceded in death in 1993 by her husband, John Jackson, and in 1996 married Leslie Nys, who later died in 2002. In of 2000 Mrs. Nys moved to Pelham, Alabama to be near her son and his family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Lawrence Waters; sister, Marie W. Freeman; brother, Lawrence Waters, Jr.. Survivors include her son, Raymond Jackson (Joan), two granddaughters, Kimberly Cleaver, Wendy Abbott (Tim); six great grandchildren, Aubrianna May, Tanner, Christopher, Jamie, Jessie, Sammie, all of Pelham, AL; nieces and nephews, Roberta Manning of Venice, Florida, Maryanne Duus (Henry) of Wilmington, Delaware, Robert Freeman (Kathryn) of Avendale, Pennsylvania; and a dear cousin, Carol Wild of Pequannock, N.J.. made through Southern Heritage of Pelham, AL in conjunction with Kays-Ponder- and Uselton of Venice, FL. The burial will be held at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice, FL or to your favorite charity. |

Obituary: BUTLER-NYKAMP, Kay, 59, a resident of Lake Martin, Alabama and formerly of Huntsville died on 15, 2015. Kay was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 8, 1956. She was a very proud graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, class of 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Evon Butler. Obituary: Robert Clinton Nye 31, 1940 – 17, 2015 Robert Clinton Nye, 75 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away , 17, 2015. Mr. Nye is preceded in death by his wife Rita Kay Nye Mr. Nye is survived by his daughter, Gina (James) Kortman of Elkmont, AL., sister, Betty (Ronald) Harshe of Dayton, Ohio, three grandchildren, Victoria Lee, Kristiana Kortman, Tyden Kortman. He served more than 46 years of federal service in support of both military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations in the United States Army, and as a civilian U.S. Army Instructor and Instructor Supervisor at the Hazardous Devices School (HDS) Redstone Arsenal, AL. His service with the US Army was from 1958 to 1978, achieving rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a decorated combat veteran of Vietnam and was awarded a Soldiers Medal for saving the life of two injured soldiers. He was also injured during that same operation. He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. His service with the Hazardous Devices School as a civilian instructor was from 1982 to 2006. He was currently employed by Med Eng as a Technical Training Representative. He is a member of the IABTI, (International Associations of Bomb Technicians and Investigators) for over 20 years. He was the recipient of the IABTI 2004 Ron Purvis Memorial Award. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church. He loved NASCAR, time spent on his Harley-Davidson, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling his best four legged pal Bogie. You may visit with the family on , 21, 2015 from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Valhalla , with funeral services on , 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Valhalla Chapel with Dorothy Ann Webster officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
