Obituary: Barbara E. Norris, 90, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away 14, 2011 at Menorah Medical . services will be held at 1:00 p.m. , 17, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman , 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah . Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 E. 92nd Street, New York, New York 10128. Mrs. Norris was born 4, 1921 in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Henry Clay and Jessie Parker (Bennett) Hill. She graduated from Northeast High School. She was in the first gifted and talented program. She lived on a hobby farm for 19 years before returning to Kansas City, loved wildlife, animals, birds especially humming birds, and cats. She also had a pet fox. Mrs. Norris enjoyed tole painting and was an avid reader with a great vocabulary. She was a member of PTA when her children were in school. She married Bill Norris, 1943; he preceded her in death 5, 1982. Mrs. Norris is survived by her sons Steve and wife Sharryl Norris, Lynn Creek, Missouri and Mark and wife Mary Ann Norris, Independence, Missouri; brothers Jess Hill, Gladstone, Missouri and Reginald Hill, Oak Grove, Missouri; grandchildren Chris and wife Kelly Norris and Duff Norris, all of Denver, Colorado, Todd and wife Nita Norris, Prairie Village, Kansas, Jess and wife Kim Norris, Katie and husband Duane Bierman, Kearney, Nebraska and Matt Norris, Buckner, Missouri; and great-grandchildren Julie Norris, Gavin Norris, Ben Norris and Kate Norris. Obituary: Armilda Elizabeth Spicer Norris died peacefully surrounded by her family and caregivers on , 31, 2015. Milda was born to Otto and Edna (Chapman) Spicer in Fillmore, MO on 22, 1914. She lived in northwest Missouri until moving to Atchison, KS at the age of 14. Her family moved to Nashua, MO just before Milda’s senior year at North Kansas City High School. graduation, Lloyd Norris began flirting with the pretty girl who lived near the Old Dutch Mill Gas Station, where he worked. Milda and Lloyd were married at her parents’ home May 24, 1935. began their marriage in a one room apartment in North Kansas City. Lloyd and a partner eventually opened A and N Hardware and Supply in Northtown where Milda and he lived for many years. While Lloyd was busy at the store, Milda enjoyed being a mother, homemaker and volunteer. She was an excellent seamstress and loved entertaining family and friends. Milda was very involved in supporting all of her children’s activities throughout their school years. She was very active in the North Kansas City First Christian Church where she was a member for over 75 years. Milda was a children’s School teacher, deaconess and leader in Christian Women’s Fellowship. She became a volunteer at the North Kansas City Hospital soon after it opened. Milda loved to be with her family, visit with friends, travel, fish, and play cards, dominos and bingo. She was known for her bright smile, quick wit and stylish clothes. Milda was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Edna Spicer; a brother, William Spicer; and her beloved husband, Lloyd. She is survived by her children; son, Tom and wife, Gretchen and daughter, Joy and husband, Chet; grandsons, Trent Norris and partner, Jack Calhoun, Troy Norris and partner, Ewa Hart, Andy George and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Tyler and Jason Norris, and Alex and Jack George; and nieces, Elta Shields and Jane Wunderlich. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched throughout her long, well-lived life. Service 2:00pm 5, 2015 White Chapel , 6600 NE Antioch Rd Gladstone, MO 64119. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the North Kansas City First Christian Church or North Hospice. |
