Obituary: Marie G. Netherland, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and precious friend to many, died on , 5th, 2017. Marie was born on 23, 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia to parents W. Jack and Dora Grogan. She had 3 siblings, Dot Callaway, Bessie Risse and Wesley Grogan, whom all have passed away. She was married 66 years to her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Netherland who passed away a few years ago. She died at the personal care home where she resided for the past 4 years. Her death was peaceful with her family at her side. Marie was 93 years young and ready to go as God called her home. She can finally be with her Bob in Heaven. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Susan Hamby and Debbie Monyak, along with son-in-law, Steve Monyak. She also leaves behind her 2 grandchildren, Kim Kelley, and Drew Monyak, along with several nieces, nephews and their children. She was a very special, loving lady in all respects and we will all miss her dearly. service will be held on , 9th, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Eternal Hills in Snellville, Chaplain Adrienne Fenner will officiate. Obituary: Dickey DuVall Netherland, 90, passed away peacefully at home on 19, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held on , 24, 2015 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Second - Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Pattersons Spring Hill, , 23, 2015 from 6 until 8 o'clock in the evening. Affectionately known as Dickey to one and all, she was the oldest child of Harriett and W. O. DuVall of Atlanta. She graduated from North Fulton High School in 1942 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1946 after spending her first two years at Stephens in Columbia, Missouri. She married Tom Brumby of Marietta, Georgia and they had five children. Her home was filled with family, friends, children and childrens friends and she managed to handle it all with a grace that made the chaos appear perfectly normal. For many years, Mrs. Netherland was a real estate agent; beginning as one of early female agents working for Mrs. Harry Norman and staying with the firm as it grew until her retirement some twenty years later. Dickey loved and enjoyed life. She was woman of quiet faith and took great joy in her appreciation for art, interior design and gracious living. She had a style and a way of doing things that was all her own. However, her greatest joy was her friends. She was never happier than when she was with her beloved friends from her bridge club, garden club and the many other friends that made and treasured over the years. Mrs. Netherland is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Louis Netherland of Atlanta and her son John T. Brumby, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Mary Francis (Mickey) Nichols of Atlanta; her children: Elsie Brumby, Anna and DuVall Brumby, Jane and David Brumby, Breland and Marc Nelson and Jenny and Bill Brumby; her grandchildren: John Thomas Brumby, III, Leila Wise, Cathall Anderson, Duvall Brumby, Jr., Ryan Hooks, Turner Brumby, Ben Nelson, Clayton Nelson, Breland Oscar and Ben Brumby and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Ms. Bernastine Hodges for the wonderful care and companionship that she gave our mother in the final years of her life along with the numerous caregivers that have been such a blessing. Bruce Nestlehutt, a retired senior executive who served in the U.S. Department of , Education & Welfare, the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, and the U.S. Department of Education, died on , 27th at his home in East Cobb , surrounded by his family. He was 81. The son of M. Driscoll Nestlehutt and Florence Duke Nestlehutt, Milton Bruce Nestlehutt was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated in 1953 from Russell High School after missing a year from school due to complications from polio. He earned a bachelors degree and an MBA from Georgia State University and began his career with the accounting firm Ernst & Ernst before joining Fannie Mae, the Federal National Mortgage Association. In 1957 he married Betty, who was the love of his life. Bruce was known as a kind, thoughtful and loving individual, as well as a faithful Christian. He was a member of various churches, most recently Southwest Christian Church, and had served on the board of trustees of Christian City, an orphanage and senior living center in Union City, Georgia. retiring from government service, Bruce pursued a second career in real estate partnering with his wife Betty and working for Prudential-Georgia Realty. In addition to reading and traveling, Bruce was an avid tennis player. A celebration of his life will be offered at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in East Cobb (Marietta) on , 18th at 1 p.m. followed by a reception. Memorial donations may be made to either Christian City or the Right from the Heart Ministry of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Betty Ruth Hurst; two children, Mark S. Nestlehutt (Abigail) of St. Michaels, Maryland and Dawn M. Clements (Charles)of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Zachary Klempf of San Francisco, Nicholas Klempf of Atlanta, and Asa and Honor Nestlehutt both of St. Michaels, Maryland. Obituary: William H. Bill Nessmith passed away on , 10, 2010 after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Bill was the consummate southern gentleman and an eternal optimist. In fact when he was diagnosed with AML, he used the diagnosis as an opportunity to witness to everyone about his love for God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Herman and Kathleen Gabriel Nessmith gave birth to Bill in Statesboro, Georgia, on 26, 1938. Bill grew up in Statesboro and Alma, Georgia, and enjoyed working on the farm picking tobacco during the summers. He served the US Army in an intelligence capacity in Asmara Eritrea, Ethiopia. During his time in Africa, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. returning to the states he graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management and worked for Avon Products. He then took over his fathers insurance business for 20 years in Bulloch . In 1987, he began consulting for Cotton States Insurance and eventually moved back to Atlanta. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending various church Bible classes. He was a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. Up until his death, he consulted on various business projects. Bill enjoyed meeting new people everywhere he went. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nita Carper Nessmith; three children, Kristen Nessmith DiCarlo and her husband Pat, Jonathon Michael Nessmith, Mary Ellen Nessmith and three grandchildren, Jack Ryan, Anna Sullivan and Benjamin Gabriel DiCarlo. He is also survived by two sisters: Beth Nessmith Kern and her husband Kenan, Jean Nessmith Burnett and her husband Dick as well as three nieces and numerous cousins. services will be held on , 13, 2010 at Sandy Springs Chapel 136 Mt. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Gordon Nessmith and her parents, Dr. Irvin Willis and Mary Spinks Willis. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Gleaners School Class. Obituary: Dr. Josh Nessmith, age 93, died 10, 2017 in Mount Pleasant, SC. He was a native of Bulloch . He is survived by a son, Josh T. Nessmith, III of Warner Robins, Ga; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Nessmith Kitten and husband Lester Kitten of Charleston, SC, and Dr. Carol Nessmith Pryby and husband Dr. Todd Louis Pryby of Clarkesville, GA; three grandsons, Jacob Thomas Kitten, Evan Daniel Kitten, and Dr. Christopher Ian Pryby and wife, Brittany Roberts Pryby; one brother and sister in-law, William Emory Nessmith and Betty Nessmith; a sister in law, Dorinda Simmerson; a brother in law, Charles M. Simmerson and wife Claire; and a number of nieces and nephews. His wife, Alawayne Simmerson Nessmith; two daughters, Cynthia Jean Nessmith and Susan Patricia Nessmith; a sister, Martha Jean Rodgers; and a brother, Ben Robert Nessmith, predeceased him. Dr. Nessmiths graduation from Statesboro High, he attended Georgia Teachers before entering Georgia Tech. His education was interrupted by his enlistment in the US Army Ordnance (1942-46) operating on the East Coast and in Europe during World War II. He returned to Georgia Tech receiving his BSEE. He received the MSEE and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming Senior Scientific Advisor at RCA, Dr. Nessmith managed the Systems Engineering Department of the Missile and Surface Radar Division of RCA. During the Development of the AEGIS Weapon System, he served as Deputy Program Manager and Manager of Systems Engineering providing the direction of RCA and sub-contractor system engineering. As Missile and Surface Radar Systems Engineering Manager he directed research on multifunction radars and weapon systems. As Project Manager, he was technically responsible for design, fabrication, test and operation of the TRADEX ABM measurement radar, a mainstay in the development and test of anti- and ballistic missiles for five decades. He also performed the system design of the key radars in the NASA net. Retiring from RCA, Dr. Nessmith went to Georgia Tech as a Senior Faculty Leader performing research in Radar and teaching Phased-Array Radar Design and Modern Radar. He served as a radar and weapon system consultant to Industry and the Government including the SDI Radar Discrimination Panel, Blue Ribbon Panel investigating NEXRAD weather radar requirements, and as Chairman of ONR review of radar research at the Naval Research Laboratory. He served as a consultant to the Office of Naval Technology and as a member of the National Academy of Science Advanced Radar Technology Panels. Retiring from GA Tech in 1993, he served twelve years as a staff consultant to Georgia Tech., to the Applied Physics Laboratory of John Hopkins University on the Anti-Tactical Missile Panel and as a radar expert to the BMD Program Office. He continue to work after retirement and at his death he was still working for GA Tech. Professional affiliations and service included the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers where he served on the Awards Board, Fellows Committee, Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society as Vice President of Operations, Chairman of the International Radar Systems Panel, Education Society, and Fortescue Fellowship Awards Committee. He served as an IEEE Delegate to the People's Republic of China in 1980. He was a member of the Anti-Aircraft Warfare and Planning Committees of the NSIA, and the University of Pennsylvania Advisory Board for both Electrical and System Engineering. Major publications include chapters on Radar in the Electrical Engineering Handbook, Antenna Engineering Handbook, Encyclopedia of Applied Physics, and Antenna Applications Reference Guide. Major papers are included in conference records and in IEEE Society Journals. He presented at both national and international conferences. He received citations from the Advanced Research Project Agency, the U. S. Navy and the National Security Industrial Association. Awards included election as a Life Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Fellow of the Military Sensing Symposia and the Admiral Sides Award by the NSIA. Upon retirement he returned to Statesboro in 1993, he became a member of Kiwanis, a charter member of the GSU 1906 Society and the First United Methodist Church. Visitation starts at 09:30am and Services at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Statesboro on , 14, with Reverend Scott Harris presiding. Interment will be in the East Side . Pallbearers will be Jacob and Evan Kitten, Ben Nessmith, Jr., Donald Nessmith, R.B. Proctor and Dr. Todd L. Pryby. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Dan Williams School Class and the former Snookys Coffee clubs.
