Obituary: George Antony Nikoras age 78, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Billerica, MA, passed away on May 16, 2015. George was born in Orosháza, Hungary in 1937. As a young man, George learned the masonry trade. In 1956, George left his family in Hungary during the Hungary Revolution, escaped to Austria and later was sponsored by a church in Cleveland, Ohio. From here, George moved to the Boston, Massachusetts area in 1958. In 1960, he married Mary Madeline Kane and started their family. As an immigrant in his new country, George worked three jobs to support his family until he secured a position as a tool and die maker for Polaroid Corporation where he worked for more than 25 years. Additionally, George earned his pilot's and General Contractor's licenses. He built and owned many properties. spending several years in New Hampshire, George moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he lived until his passing. He loved his new country where he was able, through much hard work, to fulfill his dream of being a successful business man. He will always be remembered for his smile. George is survived by his son, Philip (Deirdre) Nikoras; granddaughter, Fiona; his daughter, Julie and fiancé, Gary; and Mary Madeline Nikoras. A memorial service will be held in his honor at a later date in Boston, MA. Donations in George's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
