Obituary: Anne "Nancy" Morris, 100, passed away on evening, 21, 2016, in Danbury Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Frank B. Morris. Nancy was the eldest of three children growing up in New York City during the Great Depression. A graduate from Hunter with a degree in education, she spent summers visiting family in Danbury and met her husband there. lived in Danbury and raised their six children with pride, love, and great patience. Nancy and Frank were married for 58 years before Franks death in 1999. Frank was owner of Morris Radio & TV. Nancy was an elementary school teacher in Danbury for 30 years at South Street School. In retirement she was often recognized and warmly greeted by her former students with memories of time in her classroom. Always concerned for the welfare of others, Nancy spent much of her retirement years volunteering at the Connecticut Superior Court, The Salvation Army, the Pope John Paul II , and the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen. Her family lovingly referred to Nancy as "The Mother of This Whole Family". She encouraged them to be all that they could be, and they did. Nancy made sure her children were always active and were often found at Candlewood Lake, the War Memorial, and Rogers Park, involved in myriad of cultural and athletic activities. She was a fan of Richter Park and Danbury Little Symphony. She was orchestrator of the annual family gathering on Martha's Vineyard and Chappaquiddick - an over 30 year tradition. Nancy and Frank were enthusiastic members of the Mad Hatters Square Dance Club. She taught herself to use her computer at the age of 80 to stay in touch with family, and had her own active Facebook page. Nancy was an avid reader and cinemaphile. She enjoyed travel throughout the United States and Europe. She participated in Senior Water Aerobics to help keep her fit in her 80's and 90s. Everywhere she went she made lasting friends. For all her adult life Nancy was a parishioner of Saint Peter Church in Danbury. She kept a beloved circle of friendships from this Parish that was a part of her life until her last days. Her strength and faith enabled her to overcome much heartbreak, including the early deaths of three of her adult children. Nancy is survived by three daughters: Marion Morris, Kathleen de Rham (Abbott), Patricia Morris Lee; seven grandchildren: Kasey Leo Straiton (Steven), Jesse Leo (Maria); Blaine Dulin, Kyle Dulin, and their father Stephen Dulin; Teresse de Rham; Savannah de Rham (Seth Beauregard); Ryan Morris and his mother Shelley Kyle Morris; and two great-grandchildren: Aidan Paul Leo; and Jake Alexander Leo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on , 26, 2016 at St. Peter Church, Danbury with the Rev. Gregg Mecca, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter , Danbury, at a future date. There are no calling hours. |

Obituary: Richard Everett Morrill, 86, of West Hartford died 16, 2014 after a short illness. Born May 17, 1928 in North Adams, MA, he was the son of Frank Baxter and Beatrice Downs Morrill. He married Gwendolyn Estelle Vannah in 1958 and they lived in North Granby, CT, for many years before retiring to their summer home in Port Clyde, ME. Gwens death, Richard moved to West Hartford. He graduated from The Mount Hermon School in 1945, from Williams with a bachelors degree in History in 1949 and from Columbia University with a masters degree in Library Science in 1954. He was employed by the Brooklyn Public Library, in Brooklyn, NY, the Adams Free Library, in Adams, MA, and the Leominster Public Library in Leominster, MA. He then served as the Director of the Prosser Public Library in Bloomfield, CT, from 1965 to 1991. Richard was a founder and first president of the Central Massachusetts Library Council and first president of the Capitol Region Library Council in Connecticut. He held many offices and committee assignments at the American Library Association, the Connecticut Library Association and the Massachusetts Library Association. retirement, he was very active at the Rockland (Maine) Public Library as Advisory Council Chairman, Building Committee and Search Committee member and secretary of the Friends of Rockland Public Library. He was a member of the Flagg Road United Church of Christ in West Hartford. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Susanne Morrill, of West Hartford, 2 grandchildren, Rick and Jonathan Morrill, also of West Hartford, a brother, Dexter Morrill of Ithaca, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Geraghty of Catonsville, MD. A memorial service will be held , Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Flagg Road United Church of Christ, 134 Flagg Road, West Hartford.
