Obituary: MODZELESKY. Thomas J. Modzelesky, Sr., 98, of Suffield, Beloved husband of the late Rose (Phillips) Modzelesky passed away , 11, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born 11, 1918 in Suffield, son of the late Peter and Mary (Kasulinous) Modzelesky, he had lived in Suffield his whole life. Tom was employed by Roncari Industries as a truck driver for 40 years before retiring. He was an avid golfer, he had golf memberships at the Suffield Country Club for 30 years and then Oak Ridge Country Club for the remaining years he golfed, and he was an avid Red Sox fan. Tom was a member of AA for 70 years. He is survived by three sons, Thomas J. Modzelesky, Jr. and his wife, Celeste of Suffield, James P. Modzelesky and his wife, Lynn of Naples, FL, Kenneth P. Modzelesky and his wife, Susan of Feeding Hills, MA; two daughters, Susan M. Bergeron and her husband, Kenneth of Enfield, Karen A. Plecnik and her husband, John of Belmont, NC; a sister, Eleanor Manning and her husband, Daniel of Westfield, MA; 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Modzelesky and two sisters, Celia Modzelesky and Helen Zukowsky A Mass of Christian Burial will be held , 15, 2017, 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Church, 140 South Main St., Suffield. Obituary: Krystyna (Smigielski) Moczulak, 68, widow of Walter Moczulak since 1984, of New Britain and Newington, passed away on , Nov. 6, 2011 at Bel-Air Manor after a brief illness. Krystyna was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Wierzbowa, Poland to the late Frank and Maryanna (Jaroszewski) Smigielski and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Krystyna will be most remembered for her compassionate, kindhearted spirit and great sense of humor. A devoted mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Marek and her husband John of Newington, her two precious grandsons, Zachary and Michael, her brothers; Jerzy Smigielski and his wife Stacia of N.C. and Wesley Smigielski of New Britain, a brother-in-law, Slawek Fidelus of New Britain and nieces and nephews; Mark, Tom, Andy, Yvonne Smigielski and Rob Fidelus, including her dear goddaughter, Yvette Vinci. Obituary: If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people-their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal", then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal. While these words were spoken by John F. Kennedy, the essence of his words were part of the everyday life of Mary Elizabeth (Shanley) Mockovak who left us on Sept 3rd at the age of 80. Mary was born May 13, 1934 in Danbury, CT, a daughter of Frank and Martha Shanley. She lived in the greater Danbury area most of her life. Mary graduated from Danbury High School Class of 1951 and married her husband, the late Robert A. Mockovak, 9 years later in Ohio. She eventually moved back to Connecticut in 1969 and lived in Newtown for the next 25 years. Her final years were spent in Bethel. Throughout her life she never wavered in her belief that all people deserved to be treated fairly. Her ideals were founded in the basic teachings of religion that no one should ever be persecuted for their beliefs. Mary was an avid reader she traveled the world through her books. In her later years she was very generous in supporting the many causes she believed in. She is survived by her son Mark Mockovak and two grandchildren, Eric and Kyle all of Newtown. She is also survived by her Brother Edward Shanley and his wife, Arlene, also of Newtown and their daughter, Audra. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her husband of 34 years, Mary was predeceased by her brothers John, Francis and Donald. A private service will be held at Green , 57 Main St., Danbury. Burial will be in Elmwood , Bethel, CT.
