Obituary: Kenneth Oliver Maurer, 93, of East Haven Connecticut, formerly of Oil City, PA, died peacefully in his sleep on 22, 2021. He was born on 15, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA to Howard W. Maurer and Victoria Faulhaber Maurer. Ken moved to Oil City when he was a young boy following his fathers transfer. He graduated in 1947 from Oil City Senior High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps—Oorah! Following boot camp in Parris Island, SC, he served ably for 5 years as an airplane mechanics instructor in Cherry Point, NC, Memphis, TN, and Jacksonville, FL. He was honorably discharged with the rank of tech sergeant. Following his service in the Marine Corps, Ken attended California University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a bachelors degree in industrial arts. He taught in districts all over Pennsylvania: Pleasantville, Bucks , Rocky Grove, Bradford, Warren, and Oil City. In Oil City, he taught mechanical drawing to many eighth graders, including two of his own children. He also taught drivers ed and is responsible for all three of his children becoming crack parallel parkers. He married the late Carol Nellis Maurer, MD, on 5, 1958, one of the hottest days of the summer. were happily married for 61 years until Carols death in 2019. In the early 1970s, Ken earned a masters degree in guidance counseling at Edinboro University. Following his receipt of a masters degree, he provided guidance counseling at both the Oil City Junior High School and the Oil City Senior High School. He was the guidance counselor for his youngest daughter during her sophomore year. Famously, he required her to make an appointment with him to discuss dropping band. He enjoyed hunting, peanut butter sandwiches, theater, giving amazing thoughtful gifts, traveling (including trips to all seven continents and three African safaris), Edinboro Lake, and his granddogs, Ivy and Ollie. He had a wry sense of humor and enjoyed telling friends and family about his enets for good living: clean underpants, a full roll of toilet paper, a full tank of gas, and a freezer full of ice cream. In addition to his wife, Ken was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glenn H. Maurer and Stanley V. Maurer; sisters-in-law, Shirley Maurer and Sally Rosenberger Maurer; and his daughter-in-law, Kimberly M. Underwood. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim Maurer and Petra Heinsen of Durango, CO; his daughter, KC Maurer of Brooklyn, NY and Atlantic Highlands, NJ; his daughter and her partner, Sabrina Maurer of Guilford, CT, and Wendy Ritch of Wall, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Michelle Gilkes for the last two years. She cared for and loved him like family. arrangements are private. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Venango Humane Society, the Oil City Library, the Venango Museum of Art, Science, and Industry, or a charity of ones choice. |

Obituary: Saverio Francis Maulucci, 87, of South Windsor, CT, passed away 7/15/2016 after a brief illness and now joins his beloved wife Nancy in eternal rest. Born in Hartford on 12, 1928, he lived in South Windsor for over 50 years. He worked many different occupations, including accounting at The Institute Of Living and as a waiter at The Rib Room in The Hotel Sonesta and at Caveys Restaurant. Previously, he was also the owner and operator of his own grocery store, The Twin Market and later, Simsbury Seafood Market with his wife Nancy. Saverio was predeceased by his wife Nancy Montanaro Maulucci, his sons Scott and Lee Maulucci, and his parents Antonio Maulucci and Raphael Bonito Maulucci. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Sebastian Maulucci and Anthony Maulucci and sisters, Mary Maulucci Panfili and Jeanette Maulucci Oleski. He is survived by two sons, Mark Maulucci and his partner Elise Lennon, Rick Maulucci and his wife Deborah Purington, and his sister Dorothy Dottie Maulucci McAllister. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tammy Riley, Damon Maulucci, Angelica Maulucci, Nathan Maulucci, Lisa Maulucci Cowdell, Eric Maulucci, Sarah Von Duntz, and four great-grandchildren, Audrey and Loren Maulucci, Zaryel ary Von Duntz, and Malcom Maulucci. Obituary: Elvira Iapichino Maulucci, the daughter of Michela Mancarella Iapichino and Francesco Iapichino, departed this life on 11, 2015. She was born on 12, 1957 in Catania, Sicily and came to America with her family in 1968. She lived in Hartford and attended the Burr School and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1975. attending hair dressing school, Ellie spent the next 35 years in the hair industry. She was known for her creativity and style and worked at many different salons amongst which are Art of Fine Hair, Contours Salon and Day Spa, Milanos Salon and Day Spa, Oggi Salon and Spa, and most recently KR Styles in Simsbury. Ellies creativity and entrepreneurial spirit ultimately led her to invent the EZ2Handle Brush. She loved life and was a larger than life personality, bringing joy and laughter to all those she came in contact with. She was a captivating beauty who loved classical music, Broadway plays and the arts. Ellie also loved plants, flowers, angels, fairies, painting, cooking, gardening, and spending the summer at Watch Hill by the ocean. She enjoyed reading Rudolph Steiner and believed in the power of prayer. Her beautiful spirit and bright light love will be missed by all who knew her. She left a lasting impression and lit up any room that she walked into. She was married for 25 years to Gary R. Maulucci, and birthed a beautiful daughter named Mahria in 1992. She spent the last 17 years of her life living in West Granby creating a beautiful home with her family. Ellie leaves her husband Gary and her daughter Mahria; a step-son, Gabrieal Maulucci and step-daughter, Heather Maulucci; her daughters godfather, Stephen Taylor; her father and mother; five sisters and their husbands, Maria and Jerome Bertuglia of West Simsbury, Silvana and Donald Righenzi of Marlboro, Isabella and Peter Marandino of West Granby, Paula and Bruce Johnston of Wethersfield, and Laura and Kevin Iapichino-Dorr of West Simsbury; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved along with many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Iapichino.
