Obituary: Glen Frank Morgan, 97, of Highlands Ranch, CO and formerly of Marquette, passed away on , 24, 2016 at his home in Highlands Ranch surrounded by his loving family. Glen enjoyed a full and loving life with his wife Margaret. recently celebrated 70 years of marriage on 12, 2016. Born on 11, 1919 in Stambaugh, MI, Glen was a graduate of Graveraet High School in Marquette. He served 4 ½ years in the United States Army under General George Patton where his travels took him to Morocco, Sicily, Italy, France, Germany, Algeria, Tunisia, and Austria. As a Medic, Glen invented the Cardx system to keep track of wounded and deceased soldiers during WWII. Glens stories with General Patton have been featured in past editions of the Marquette Mining Journal and on WLUC TV Marquette. Glen worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission (MESC) for 34 ½ years. He began his career with MESC as a claims examiner and was promoted to unemployment fraud investigator before retiring in of 1978. Glen also served on the Marquette Housing Commission and was a long term member of the Board of Directors of the Marquette Catholic Credit Union. Glen also belonged to the American Legion, is lifetime member of AmVets, and a lifetime member of the Bishop Baraga Association. Glen was extremely involved for many years in St. Michael Catholic Church, in Marquette, where he counted collections and was one of the many key parishioners who guided the original wooden structure into the multifunctional new facility which stands today. Both Glen and Margaret continued to be involved on various committees at St. Michaels until they moved to Colorado in 2013 where they are residents at Wind Crest Retirement Community in Highlands Ranch. Glen and Margaret also have many fond memories of over 30 years at their camp in Sand River, MI, which they built in the early 50s. Glens immediate family consisted of two brothers and five sisters. Glen is survived by his wife Margaret (96 years of age); three children: Glen M. (Connie) of Highlands Ranch, CO, John P. of Ft. Atkinson, WI and Ron P. (Jodie) of Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A Mass will be held on , 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Glens family, including his wife Margaret will be traveling back to Marquette for the Mass. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross next to his family members in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Glens memory to St. Michael Catholic Church, 401 W. Kaye Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855. Cremation is being arranged through Horan & McConaty Services, Denver, CO with local funeral arrangements entrusted to Canale-Tonella where memories of Glen may be shared online at canalefuneral.com. |

Obituary: Georgia M. Morgan, 90, of Greeley, passed away , 11, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born on 27, 1925 in Elizabeth, Colorado to Philip Bror and Lucy Edna (McCracken) Nelson. Georgia was raised in Elizabeth, attending Elizabeth High School. She then attended the Colorado Womens and spent four years at UNC in Greeley, majoring in Social Science with a minor in Music. On 12, 1946 she married Rene C. Morgan in Elizabeth. Georgias first teaching job was in Kemmerer, Wyoming during WWII. She then worked at Platteville Elementary School and South Valley Middle School, retiring after 35 years. While she was a teacher in Platteville she was a teachers representative for the cheerleading and pep squads and the assistant coach for the South Valley boys football team. She loved teaching and always captured her students hearts. Georgia had been a member of Platteville Methodist Church, where she was an organist. Most recently she was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church, formerly First Presbyterian Church in Greeley, where she served as a deacon and held the office of president for the Presbyterian Women. Georgia was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Platteville, Delta Kappa Gamma, and served as the Republican Party chairwoman. Georgia enjoyed art and painting, especially sketching womens portraits. She also enjoyed music. She played the piano, trumpet and during her younger days, she even played Taps in Elizabeth. She was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. Georgia enjoyed reading and was a member of several book clubs. She volunteered at the Swedish House in Greeley for many years. She had a wonderful work ethic. Georgia is survived by her daughter Melinda (Larry) Wren; two sons Rene C. Morgan II and Philip (Robin) Morgan; sister Helen Tapparo; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rene and a great-grandchild. service will be at 11:00 a.m. , 15, 2015 at Cornerstone Community Church in Greeley.
