Obituary: Michael D. Markworth, 66, of Sheboygan, went home to be with his Lord on , 27, 2014 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Mike was born 31, 1947 in Sheboygan to Waldemar and Virginia (Welsch) Markworth. He attended Sheboygan Grade Schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Class of 1965. Mike served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed at Kohler for eleven years as well as owning and running Michaels Stump and Tree Removal Service for many years. He then furthered his employment with Riverview Middle School until his retirement in 2003. On 22, 1969 Mike Markworth and Sue Voss were united in marriage at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mike was known for his famous caramel corn and sharing it with relatives, neighbors, friends, doctors, and nurses. He loved camping, taking family trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and took pride in any hobbies he had going. He especially took pride in his dogs, Chelsea, Isabelle, Mandy, and Taffy and loved working as a Custodian for Plymouth Middle School enjoying the company of the staff, students, and the public. In addition to his wife, Sue, He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Markworth and Jonathan (Fiancee, Michelle Sargent) Markworth; a daughter, Jamie (Anel) Herdic; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Kayla, Noah, Muhammed, Ajdin, Destiny, Sierra, and Kaitlyn; a brother, David (Robin) Markworth; a sister, Sue (Jerry) Horneck; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Lauff; and many other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Jimmy Markworth; and a niece, Erin Teunissen. A time of visitation and support will be held from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on , 4, 2014 at Ballhorn Chapels and , 5, 2014 from 10:00am until the time of service at Oakbrook Community Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on , 5, 2014 at Oakbrook Community Church. Pastor Mario Ciotola will officiate. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Mikes family extends a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him. |

Obituary: Florence Markwardt, age 94, widow of Sheboygan businessman Sol Markwardt, passed away peacefully at home on the evening of 24, 2011 of natural causes. Her husband preceded her in death in 2005. A lifelong Sheboygan resident, born on 16, 1916, Florence had resided with her daughter and son-in-law at a Sheboygan condominium during recent years. Florence traced her heritage back several generations to the early German dairy farmers in the 1850s near Sheboygan Falls and Cleveland, especially the Heide and Oehldrich families. She was the daughter of Estella Heide Oehldrich and William Oehldrich, Jr., grew up on Bluff Avenue and attended Washington Elementary School. Graduating from Sheboygan High School in 1934, she enjoyed keeping in touch with the members of her class and attended all the high school class reunions through their 70th and last meeting in 2005. On Thanksgiving Day of 1935 Florence was united in marriage to Solomon Markwardt, who traced his lineage to pioneer farm families near Two Rivers in Manitowoc since the 1860s, also Landwehr and Thiele pioneer families in Sheboygan since the 1850s. Florence combined her interest in genealogy and local history with her love for world travel to produce two books, My Story: As I Remember It in 1994 and On the Go with Sol and Flo in 1998. She collected wonderful information from decades of traveling with her husband through all fifty states and to twenty-nine foreign countries and from her genealogical research. Those activities gave her happy memories she enjoyed sharing with others even during her final years. With an adventurous heart she was willing to try many new activities. During World War II she resided briefly in Tampa, Florida, while her husband served in the Army Air Corps before he was shipped overseas. In the 1980s, while spending winters in Texas, she took Spanish lessons with other retirees. For many decades Florence enjoyed a variety of music and special performances. Classical music and hymns, show tunes, big band, and polkas were among her favorites. In later years she continued to be an avid armchair traveler. During their seventy-year marriage she and her husband raised three children and operated a successful painting and cleaning business from their home on North 10th Street. both participated in their church where Florence served at various times as school superintendent, nursery chairman, and board member. During her lifetime Florence experienced many healings for herself and her family through prayer and following the way of Jesus. A quiet woman of daily devotion and wholesome living, Florence will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the love she showed towards her family. Florence is survived by three children, Joyce (Richard) Jordan, Roy (Susan) Markwardt, and Mark (Kathleen) Markwardt; six grandchildren, Troy, Cory, Amy, Ben, Marisa, and Robert; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Luke; one step-great-granddaughter, Paige; and other relatives.
