Obituary: Donald W. Meade, 77, of Huntington, WV, passed away , 1, 2015 at his home in Huntington, WV. A visitation will be held at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary from 4-7 pm, 6, 2015. Donald was a retired worker from Haudaille Industries and retired supervisor for the Huntington Sanitary Department. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Wallace Vernon Meade and Ruth Frances Robertson Meade Ward. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Anna Belle Meade. Survivors include a very special aunt; Grace A. Berlt of Kississimi, FL, a daughter and son-in-law; Sherry Leigh Preece and very special caretaker Paul E. Preece, sisters; Mary Anne and Bob Haunesser, Patty Wingren, Diana McComas, stepchildren; Diana Perry, Harold and Debbie Wilson, Rodney and Martha Wilson, Ko Wilson, Don Wilson, grandchildren; Marcus Todd Booth and fiancé Kayla Ralyn, Derek Shae Preece and fiancé Alexis Hetle, Rob Wilson, Kelli Perry, Jason Wilson, Mark Wilson, Kirk Wilson, great-grandchildren; Nataley and Jayden Booth, Natasha Giesen and Nakya Booth, Byrklie morgan Preece, Chole and Lillian Perry, Devon Wilson, Brianna and ……. She grew up in Groveport, Ohio, graduating from Groveport High School. Jean graduated from Capitol University in 1953, and moved to Charleston, WV as a Lutheran parish worker. She married Gordon F. Mead and lived in South Charleston, WV, Houston, Texas and Winfield, WV. She was active in garden clubs throughout her life, and was president of the Kanawha Garden Council. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; sister, Margaret. She is survived by sons, Phillip (Jennifer) Mead of Peyton, Colorado, David (Melanie) Mead of Waxhaw, North Carolina and Daniel (Emily) Mead of South Charleston, WV; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Lydia Mead of Waxhaw, North Carolina and Sam Mead of Peyton, Colorado. Obituary: Gordon Freeborn Mead, 88, of Dunbar, passed away on , 09, 2015. He was born 22, 1926 in Taunton, MA to the late Raymond and Genevieve (Freeborn) Mead. He served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during the final months of World War II. He graduated Alpha Chi Sigma at Cornell University in 1952. He was a registered professional chemical engineer in Texas. He worked for FMC and Union Carbide in South Charleston. He was president of the West Virginia Beekeepers Association, Chairman of the Friends of WPBY/WMUL TV during the early days of the friends board and a Gideon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul. Gordon is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Mead formerly of Groveport, Ohio, sons, Philip (Jennifer) Mead of Peyton, CO, David (Melanie) Mead of Charlotte, NC, and Daniel (Emily) Mead of South Charleston, WV; brother, Alan (Gretchen) Mead of Whiting, ME; three grandchildren, Sam Mead of Peyton, CO, Lydia and Jonathan Mead of Waxhaw, NC. A Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, , May 16, 2015, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Charleston. He will be buried at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Friends of West Virginia Public Television or Gideons International.
