Obituary: MANKOWSKI, WALTER, 89, went to be with the Lord on 7, 2017. He was born in Weirton, West Virginia on 24, 1927, and was the son of the late Adam and Bernice (Marcziewska) Mankowski. Walter grew up on his parents farm along Kings Creek Road and attended one of the areas original one-room schoolhouses as a child. He married his beloved wife, Anne M. Krynicki, on 26, 1949, and was married for 65 years. In addition to his parents and his wife, Walter was also preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Stanley, Tony, John, and Edward Mankowski, and four sisters, Mary Kowalik, Laura Rosiak, Ida Bilkowski, and Anne Kasprzak. Walter was a quiet man of inner strength who was loved by all. He knew no strangers and always greeted everyone with a firm handshake and his ever-present heartfelt smile. Walter was a devoted husband and a loving father, whose very kind heart and giving spirit were blessings to everyone. He had a deep love and devotion to his wife and spent the final years of her life faithfully caring for her and expressing his boundless love for her each and every day. Walter loved the Lord and instilled his Christian values in his children and grandchildren by the way he lived his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. Walter remained very active throughout his lifetime, loving to swim, roller skate, bowl, and ice skate. As a young man, Walter was a great baseball player who continued his love for baseball throughout his life. He was also an accomplished harmonica player who loved to entertain his family during holidays and family events, as well as his good friends at the Country Friends. Walter generously volunteered his time every week playing for the patients at local nursing homes. He will be forever remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Walter was a truck driver for the Weirton Steel and retired after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year Club, the McDonald Rod & Gun Club, the Paris Sportsman Club, and the NRA. He attended the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene. Walter is survived by three daughters, Christine Mankowski, Mary Ann Tucker (Jim), and Kathleen Cowey (Paul), and one son, Raymond Mankowski. In addition to his children, Walter is also survived by five grandchildren, Tiffany Devore (Joshua), Jamie Stierwalt (Jim), Matthew Mankowski (Sarah), Zachary Mankowski, and Kevin Cowey (Emily), as well as seven great-grandchildren. Friends and family will be received at Greco-Hertnick , 3219 Main Street, Weirton on from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and again on at the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene located at 475 Colliers Way, at 10 a.m. A celebration of Walters life will be held at the church on , at 11 oclock, with Pastor Brian Richardson officiating. Obituary: Theresa Marie Mankowski, 80, of Weirton, passed away , 27, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh. Born 19, 1935 in Steubenville, she was a daughter of the late Casmier and Mary (Sieminski) Mosiejewski. She was also preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Mankowski Sr., son John Mankowski, sister Dorothy Andrews and brother Stanley Sieminski. Theresa spent her life putting others before herself. She worked joyfully as a homemaker raising five children, twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church where she belonged to the Rosary Society and Christian Mothers. She also spent much time volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America and Camp Fire USA. She is survived by her son Richard Mankowski Jr.; daughters Bernadette (James) Zucosky, Virginia Lamp and her fiancé Michael Heilman, Annette (Chuck) Toland and Theresa (David) Lamp, all of Weirton, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on from 4-7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick , 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM by the Christian Mothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Mary Church. Fr. Anthony G. Thurston will preside. Interment will follow at St. Paul . Obituary: Reverend Mr. Deacon Richard Walter Mankowski, Sr., 79, of Weirton, WV died 22, 2014, at the Valley Hospice North, in Steubenville, OH. Born on 25, 1935, in Weirton, WV, Richard was a son of the late Frank A. and Stella Bernice Ostrowski Mankowski. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Mankowski in 1961 and his brother, Edward J. Mankowski. Richard retired as a millwright from Weirton Steel after 42 years of service. He was an active leader to our areas youth for many years. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 132 for over thirty five years. While in scouting, he received The Mayors Award in 1970, the Silver Beaver from the Fort Steuben Area Council in 1975 and the Saint George Emblem in 1980 from the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston , in recognition of outstanding service to the spiritual development of Catholic youth. In addition to Boy Scouts, he was a board member of the Lauretta B. Millsop Council of Camp Fire USA. Richard was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus 3734 and the Fourth Degree Assembly 1194 , where he served as Faithful Navigator, Faithful Friar and Chaplin. In 2000 his family was awarded Family of the Year by the Knights of Columbus, and in 2001 he was awarded Knight of the Year. Deacon Richard was an active member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister until his ordination to the Deaconate in 1985 by Bishop Francis Schulte. Since 1985 Richard has served his parish as a permanent Deacon. He was Director of the RCIA and was appointed Interim Pastoral Cooridinator for Sacred Heart of Mary in 1992, and a representative for the Wheeling Vicariate to the Ninth Diocesan Synod . He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Theresa Mosiejewski Mankowski, whom he married on May 10, 1958; a son, Richard Walter Mankowski, Jr.; four daughters, Bernadette and James Zucosky, Virginia Lamp and her fiancé Michael Heilman, Annette and Chuck Toland, and Theresa and David Lamp all of Weirton, WV; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 PM at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church 200 Preston Avenue Weirton, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on . Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary at 4 PM and a Vigil Service will be conducted at 8 PM in the Church. The Fourth Degree Honor Guard will serve as pall bearers.
